I've been following this thread with interest as I have the same problem with a Sony Bravia KDL-32 and a HDR-FOXT2. Having failed to nail the problem, I am reduced to watching SD using the Bravia's tuner on the odd occasion that there is a a clash - not an ideal solution!
I replaced my noisy Pipeline with a WD5000AVCS, which is completely silent and works fine.
If you need a 1TB version, the WD10EURX seems to be OK although it is advanced format, and is available from Dabs and elsewhere.
I have previously posted this elsewhere without a solution so far.
After about half an hour or so viewing (either live or a recording), I get an error message on the TV screen "USB device has encountered an error. Remove the USB to prevent system failure". However, there are no USB devices...
I am afraid your file system is corrupted. The only fix is to reformat the drive from the Humax menu.
There are methods of recovering your programmes if you really want to, but they involve opening up the box to access the drive. Come back if you want more info.
I had similar problems during Winter Hill's DSO caused by channel changes in the mid period. All was returned to normal after the completion of the switch over.
In the meantime, ensure that the boxes are tuned to the currently correct MUXs by checking on www.digitaluk.co.uk postcode checker...
Brian beat me to it! You can either get the correct cable or I believe you can buy a cross over adaptor. A search on Ebay will give you lots of sources.
Was the unit left in standby? Are downloads enabled? (Menu>Installation>software update> reg auto update> enable).
No doubt the download will be repeated shortly.
