OK so it seems that channels 22 and 28 seem to cause the crash when tuning. If I omit these then I can progress to updating the EPG. So everything appears to be back up and running.
Many thanks for your help!
Doh! Sorry I hadn't spotted that the section already existed. OK I managed to correct the config and start the service. One step forward....
Now when I try to tune the channels the DVROntime service repeatedly crashes after tuning four of the six channels. The message generated in the Event Log...
OK so I was able to start the service manually - must've been a genuine timeout....
So I stopped it again, replaced the three v1.0.6 files with the equivalent files from v1.0.7, made the changes to the config file, then tried to restart the service. This time I get: "Windows could not start the...
Hmmm...there was indeed a DVROntime entry in Add or Remove Programs, but when I try to uninstall it I get an error - "There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel..."
So I manually deleted...
As an experiment, I also tried running the v1.0.6 install on a fresh (newly-installed) Windows 10 VM. That install also failed. So your theory regarding the changes to the .NET framework sounds potentially quite relevant.
Many thanks for your reply. The setup for 1.0.6 is now failing to complete. I didn't catch the error which flashed up in the console before it closed, but at the end of the process a dialog box pops up:
"There is a problem with the Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup...
My DVROntime install is not updating the EPG. If I stop the service and run it from the command line I get this error:
Error connecting to the database, please make sure LocalDB is installed and the database is at C:\Program Files\DvrOnTime\. Error is: System.Exception: Stored Procedure...
Sorry I missed that. I do see a pause, just over 1 second, with a blank screen, before playback starts. I usually wait until after that before I press the FF button.
I find that if I FF at 1.5x or 2x I don't get the problem. Anything 4x or more and I always get taken straight back to the start...
That's now happening 100% of the time for me. I find that hitting the AV button on the Aura remote is the quickest way of getting the Aura turned on and the TV tuned to it
Hmmm....very odd. If I FF from a couple of seconds in, at 4x or 8x, until I see the newscaster, it always takes me right back to the start. Any pretty much only on the lunchtime BBC1HD news. I must have the Rita Chakrabati patch installed :D
If you allow playback to continue for 2-3 seconds at the start of the recording, then use FF at 4x or 8x, do you still get the problem? That's what I usually do, and I get the problem every time.
Many thanks for taking the trouble to do that. Just to confirm - when you say that you used the FF button before the programme starts to play, presumably you mean that you hit the OK button to open the programme and then hit FF a fraction of a second later (so technically playback had started...
Good point - I have changed the title!
Thanks
EDIT: Actually I have 2 problems - one with Skip (on the 2-hour Last Leg programme) and the other with FF (on the BBC news)
Can you try fast forwarding (at say 8x) until you get to the point where the newsreader starts speaking? That's where I have the problem.
My skip is set to 4 minutes forward (for ads)
I'm not familiar with the concept of timelines. Does this mean that there are pre-defined time points in each recording (like keyframes maybe?), and that their positioning can vary from one recording to the next?
