Could I make another feature request? At the moment hovering over a program in the grid just gives it's name and start/end time - could we also have the program synopsis in the pop-up as well? Perhaps make it optional, but it's nice when looking over the EPG to be able to see details of what's...
One minor thing I've noticed since the changes to RS is that the log is now showing a number of entries that say "Uploaded 0 EPG entries, x.xx KiB". I seem to remember in the distant past these were suppressed as they don't mean anything and only clutter the log. I guess they've crept back in...
Have you got your eye on any one in particular? The Xtrend ET8000 looks good to me - up to three tuners and reasonably priced, compared to other brands. Mind you, I suppose it depends what you want to do with it - the more expensive ET10000 apparently can do transcoding in hardware, allowing you...
EPG data isn't a problem on these boxes (apparently) - they have the ability to harvest it from the broadcast stream, be it either from DVB-T2 or Sat (if you have a sat tuner), including both Freesat and Sky data. I think you can also import XMLTV files so you could in theory have a 14-day EPG...
One option not mentioned so far as a standalone solution is to use one of the Linux based STB's that seem popular in Europe, along with one of a couple of opensource PVR images to run it.

You may have hit a bug in VLC, unrelated to Win 10 - see https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/14526 . I'm running VLC 2.2.1 on Windows 7 and can't see any UPNP devices with it.

I wasn't aware of this which may explain why I've had so many failures on BBC4 HD as I retuned a few weeks back. I'll try as suggested later when BBC4 is on air and see what happens.
So this seems to work on BBC4 HD recordings that have the zero-byte NTS file (providing you regenerate both NTS and HMT files). However, it's a manual process, and it would be good if it could be automated, as nearly every recording I make on BBC4 HD sufers from this problem.
Would it be...
I'm still having instances where the RS is failing to send updated disk contents to the website, which I mentioned a few weeks back. I'm still getting these "Could not get opkg lock after 5 seconds" errors which I think must be the cause (although it's difficult to tell in the rs.log as there's...
Yes, I do have auto-update installed. All packages show up to date except web-if which I have now updated. I noticed that rs.log wasn't actually being written to after a reboot, so I deleted it. Now after a reboot, it has recreated but is blank. I'll see what happens tonight.
I've had a problem with RS over the past few days in that it isn't updating Disk Contents on the RS site:
I had a look at the RS log on the box and it was very large, so I cleared it and left it overnight. Now I just have this:
I have tried a telnet in and manually ran RS push disk and...
Is no one else seeing this? Just tried to schedule another series as a test and again it shows up on the Hummy as a single event. Definitely something broken somewhere...
I suddenly have a problem scheduling series links from RS. This morning, I set a few new series to record from RS. After my box's automatic power up/down during the day, I powered it up and checked the schedule on it to see if all was ok, and the new series have come down as just single-instance...
Could I make a feature request for RS? I think I've said before that I more or less exclusively manage timers and content on my box via RS, so I tend to delete recordings that way as well. I tend to record everything I'm going to watch, and then delete it, unwatched, if I have watched it live...
Given this has been going on for a few weeks, I guess any corruption could have made it's way into the schedule backups, so I have just done a factory reset on it. Fortunately I only currently have half a dozen recordings set, so putting them back was easy.
Fingers crossed this fixes it....
Thanks Ezra. I was going to uninstall Redring anyway just to rule it out, but I don't think it's that, given it hasn't changed in a while.
I've seen the other strange thing with my list of scheduled recordings. I have a daily Reminder set for 04:20 for 20 minutes, which has been there for a...
My box is normally 100% reliable when it comes to recording, but I've noticed a number of times now over the past three or four weeks it has failed to wake up for a recording or reminder, and if I don't manually bring it out of standby, subsequent recordings get missed as well.
I haven't...
Thanks af - I've just checked and the box is already at 1.0.3-1 so I guess it must have just updated itself. My test series search has only put one entry in the schedule so maybe this was just an unfortunate clash. I'll see how it goes from now on.
