Having started this trip down memory lane I might as well report on life after XP.
I'm now running Ubuntu 12.04LTS dual boot with XP on my Laptop and Ubuntu 12.04LTS on my 8Gb SSD Netbook.
I'm using Firefox web browser, Thunderbird email, KMyMoney financial package, LibreOffice for...
The email I received had the lost soul in "Madrid(Spain)". The email was "sent" by the owners of a B&B I had stayed in once.
Went straight into the Deleted Messages folder.
I recorded Michael Palin's Round the World in 80 Days series on my TVonics HD500. The only problem I had was that I had to change my TV's setting from Widescreen to 4:3 to obtain the correct aspect ratio.

I have two XP computers and one Vista computer. I use MS Money, PictureIt 9 and Visual Basic programming a great deal plus the usual Outlook Express and Internet Explorer.
I think I will shift to Ubuntu on my XP Netbook, and Dual Boot on my XP Laptop for email and internet access, allowing...
On my HDR with AR I get a "Recording Failed" symbol if the HDR cannot start a recording when it detects the trigger BH mentioned above. This has always occurred when the box is set to record two programmes at a particular time with at least one recording on a different channel set to record up...
Getting back to the thread topic. My HD Fox has sorted itself out and the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) now shows Blandings for BBC1HD and is now scheduled to record tomorrow.
My Tvonics also has Blandings in the EPG but has not scheduled it, probably because I also scheduled it to record...
The Australians have another name for Accurate Recording. See : http://www.freeview.com.au/faq/glossary.aspx?glossaryId=20
"Intuitive Recording" (let's say IR ?) seems a little too OTT for what happens. I note the explanation goes on to say:
"The CRID system contained within the Freeview EPG...
I'm sorry if I created a furore. When I come across an abbreviation(s) I do not know and it is so important for my understanding that it needs to be resolved then I look for an associated word(s) in the context and access any applicable reference information source. I am sorry if my expectations...

BBC1 seem to have created a couple of problems for AR users.
1. Last Friday's (21st Feb) episode of Doctors (13:45-14;15) was replaced by coverage the Olympics. That episode was broadcast at 13;45 yesterday (Monday 24th) immediately followed by the originally scheduled Monday episode. My HDR...
If the 2000T is like the Fox-T2, the Lefthand number indicates the start time of the timeslip buffer, the Righthand number is the end time of the buffer. The Middle number is the current time associated with the picture being displayed.
When paused, you should be able to move backwards and...
I'm having a little trouble with this example.
Would there be a time delay if both cars stopped at the moment of crash or the car moving towards me pushed the crossing car towards me at the same speed?
If I see the crossing car "collide" later than the on-coming car then I would interpret...
Thanks for the answers and your patience.
So your first post on 3rd Feb about the unaccountable failure to track was just the last straw and prompted you to ask the question in the thread's title. Such unaccountable failures having happened prior to your recent software update.
Thus I am at...
I don't think I can add anything more to this conversation. I assume your a., b., and c. relate to my a., b., and c. statements.
But could you please answer the last two questions in my last post, to settle my mind:
1. Please confirm you did a standard software upgrade followed by loading...
So you have:
a. Customised software installed;
b. Had failure to track problems on, at least, 2 channels when this should not have occurred; and
c. A customised software conflict detection function that did not work on the one occasion a conflict was clearly present.
So, did the software...
Again I must admit to not knowing about the details of the customised software but I believe you are wrong in your statement "RS would have highlighted a conflict in all the examples above, but it didn't because there was no conflict".
As I pointed out in my post #26, there was a conflict in...
Mihaid, there is a hypothesis being postulated, based on your limited evidence, that ITV and Ch4 are not broadcasting the necessary information on their HD channels to allow correct operation of Accurate Recording.
Over the 2 years I have had an HDR-Fox and 2.5years I've had an HD-Fox I have...
I do not have the custom software so cannot comment on that, but, if I read the print-out correctly it states:
Successfully recorded: Ch5 Ice Road Truckers - (20:00 to 21:00 scheduled)
Successfully recorded: BBC1HD: Room 101 - (20:30 - 21:00 scheduled)
Your "failed to track" programme -...
