'Settings' Not Working For CF?
Thanks for the info. FYI, I ran a fixdisk session this afternoon to check all was well - no problems reported. ...which is not good. You may also have other corrupt files by the sound of it. It's probably worth going in to maintenance mode and running a fixdisk procedure first to rule out/fix any disk and/or filesystem problems. Try the above suggestions first. If you still have issues then place the original (500GB Seagate?) drive back into the faulty HDR. Run fixdisk against it. Then try similar test recordings as before.- bottletop

I know you have already tried switching drives without noticeable difference but it would still be worth running fixdisk in Maintenance mode to confirm that there are no problems on the disk, retrying from a write error could introduce a problem and a single bad sector can slow the system down...- MymsMan

Yes, cropping is brilliant. Removing any need for reaching for the remote especially when armed with the steam iron! Fixdisk did come up with about 12 'Error reading block' meassages on SDA2 I wonder if the 'editing' process is upset when other actions on the player are carried out such as...- Vic

In the process of running a fixdisk as I type this but I dont think that will be the cause as evreything else runs without a problem and this issue never crops up on BBC recordings which are filtered...- Vic

Applications not working
sweeper dosn't appear to have the ability to rename folders. newk changes the schedule so that series recordings end up in tidier folders. While sweeper can have rules defined that will tidy the recording names.- Luke

Applications not working
Have you checked their relevant packages are still installed (undelete and newk – and I think the equivalent of newk can also be implemented using sweeper)? Packages randomly going missing might be indicative of a failing HDD, so you need a fixdisk.- Black Hole

Neither do I, but clearly corruption is involved rather than simply "running short". I don't think so, this seems to be a rare case. All processes involve some (tiny) risk, it's a question of balancing the risk of errors building up to the extent that the file system can't be 100% restored...- Black Hole

...the check mentioned in the linked bug report, so it's entirely possible that the problem persists in the version of the package run by fixdisk. You would have to apply the debugfs commands suggested by Ted in a Maintenance Mode telnet session. Or, as usual, if the disk can be removed to a...- /df

Hi, A routine run of fixDisk resulted in an error which is this, Error storing directory block information (inode=6754201, block=0), as such the HDD was not displaying the expected memory and would not format, does anyone have any ideas what is going on?.- Foxtrot204
