Well....
I unmapped the drive. Before trying to remap it I tried typing the IP address into Windows Explorer and it worked straight away.
Having done that I right-clicked on the "My Video" directory and clicked "Map Network Drive". I chose a letter and unticked "Reconnect at sign-in". "Connect...
I do have a drive mapped but it doesn't work. I thought I'd start simply by just typing the IP address into windows explorer (although the drive IS still mapped). Could the drive mapping be interfering even with this process? Should I unmap the drive?
Thanks. Just to be clear, am I right that the beta samba package takes the approach of implementing SMB3 on the HDR rather than trying to implement SMB1 on the computer?
I have:
A HUMAX FOX-HDR T2 running customised firmware version 3.13 (build 4028)
A desktop computer running Windows 10
A laptop computer running Windows 10
On the laptop I can go to Windows Explorer and type the IP address of the Humax into the title bar, whereupon I see I directory listing of...
I give up. SMB works fine to my laptop and to my phone, but will not work to my desktop. I can't get nfs working either. FTP works (using FileZilla and betaftp package) so I'll just use that. Annoying that a previously working setup now isn't working but that's life I guess.
I have an app called RManager. I just tried a SMB connection from it to the Humax (without username or password) and got straight in. So I'm concluding that the issue/problem is Windows related.
Previously I had SMB1 enabled in Windows. I've tried disabling SMB1, as per one of the suggestions in one of @MymsMan's links. It still doesn't work but I get a slightly different (and more informative!) error messge when I try to view the mapped drive:
There's a link in there to...
Thank you @MymsMan. I have Windows10 Enterprise, so it looks like I could try NFS.
Before I start on that I'd like to try SMB from a non-windows device eg my iphone but I can't remember the username and password for the Humax. Can these be retrieved?
Somehow, having not really done anything significant, I'm now in a situation where the laptop (which is on WiFi) can connect a mapped drive to the Humax but the desktop (which is wired) cannot. Both computers are Windows 10, both used to work fine. Then they both stopped, and now only the laptop...
In parallel with posting in this forum, I contacted Synology to see if they could help. They were able to look at the NAS logs and solved it for me. The answer is twofold:
1. Control Panel -> File Settings -> SMB -> Advanced Settings -> Minimum SMB protocol -> SMB1 (as suggested by @Black Hole...
No, web browser access to the WebIF works fine (at the expected IP address). I'm talking about typing the IP address of the Hummy into Windows Explorer and seeing the contents of the Hummy hard drive listed as files. It's that which has stopped working recently.
It's wired and the IP address is...
I have a Humax HDR-FOX T2 with customised firmware v3.13. Until recently I could go to the IP address of the Hummy in Windows Explorer and see the contents of the Hummy's hard drive. Recently that has stopped working on both my Windows 10 laptop and my Windows 10 desktop. Neither can connect to...
My NAS is a Synology DS218play. It's tricky to ignore updates, because they usually fix a security issue, and it's not usually obvious that something will break until after you've done the update. I updated the DSM to 7.0.1, if it's relevant/useful.
Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry my post is in the wrong place. I thought I was posting about a virtual USB drive and virtual-disk2. I must have misunderstood.
It turned out my NAS was offering SMB1 and SMB2. I've limited it to SMB1 now, but it hasn't made a difference.
I've tried nfs too...
Hello. I have an HDR Fox T2 running customised firmware v3.13. I've installed the virtual-disk2 package and until recently was able to view and stream video files from a NAS in my network using the smb option in the [ModSettings] folder. Recently the NAS did a big firmware update and (possibly...
Thanks for your reply.
I do apologise, I've gone on to make a whole load of further changes this morning to tidy up my EPG, so I don't have a copy of the files as they were when there was an issue (unless they're archived somewhere on the device??). As soon as it happens again (hopefullly it...
