I can’t believe I made that post in 2018. it seems like a lifetime and several lockdowns ago and I never followed it up. For the last few years, I have been using the HDMI inputs on my TV to run a Hume box, a Sony, hard drive recorder, and a Blu-ray player and running an optical out to the amp...
I’ve noticed that at least two episodes of QI and the David Bowie documentary from Saturday, the 9th of February have all been cut off prematurely before the end of the recording.
This sort of problem seems to coincide with new channels and requires a rescan. The problem is you can’t back up...
I turned all that all rubbish off on day one. It took me a while to realise I had to switch my HDD players to 1080p output so I didn’t get a filmise artefact on those machines. The occasional issue persists on some HD channels but the output from my Humax is fine
One of the reasons I switched from 1080i to 1080p is that 1080p eliminates the motion artefacts I was seeing on vintage analogue shows like "Top Of The Pops" on BBC4 and DVDs of "It Ain't Half Hot, Mum" and "Doctor Who". It was getting odd segments of 'filmised' motion on what should have been...
I've managed to set up this recently acquired amp so that the TV sound routes back through the amp and thru the speakers using the tv's HDMI/ARC port and the amps corresponding R1 option. With HDMI CEC activated the amp and tv auto switch to the Blu-ray player and the Sony HDD quite happily on...
I believe I may have solved my problem. The aerial had been aligned in the general direction of Crystal Palace (i.e. 'thataway'), which was fine until this recent change. I used an online tool to work out the direction more accurately and tweaked it, and while it may not be bang on beam, I'm...
Given that I'm on Crytsal Palace and I have a loft aerial, and my general signal strength is good there's this.

It looks a wee bit flimsy.
Any recommendations?
I retuned last evening and lost some of the HD channels on my Humax 1800T (BBC 4, News, Al Jazeera, RT Today etc). I returned on my Panasonic the night before and retained them. Some are showing reduced signal strength or reduced quality, alltho the big 5 are fine.
I get my reception from...

I've been using a programme called Avidemux32 to edit material containing commercials recorded on my 1100 and transferred to my PC.
For some reason the programme hangs when attempting to load from Horror Channel, but works with material from Talking Pictures. Does anybody know why?
Clipped the end of Troy last night. As it happened I’d recorded QI XL on the both the hummy and my Sony. I checked the intro and Outro points and they were both identical on that recording. I am recording a couple more shows on both machines this evening. I shall report back
Ah that's helpful. It does seem to be a BBC issue. It was The Daily Mash last night. It clips the opening credits of Pointless and enters dramas in the middle of the recap.
It only started quite recently. I'll try a couple of progs on both the Humax and my old Sony HDD and see if the clipping...
I started to notice that my 1800t started clipping the tops of programmes. I tried doing a retune then a factory reset and the problem persists. I tried adding a minute to the top of each programme which worked but last night it clipped the end of a show. Does has anyone else experienced this...
I had the same issue but with weak signal on BBC 4 on my Panasonic TV. At the suggestion of a friend in the biz I got hold of a One For All aerial distributor (other brands are available) and gave a feed to each device (1800T, TV and old Sony HDD machine), so each has it's own interrupted...
