A couple of questions.

Hi, I rarely bother the forums because I’ve generally got nothing of any interest to offer. I love the Humax and the customised firmware- and particularly the remote scheduling. I’ve been using the customised firmware for years and years. I find it all so useful, but I’m no coder so I can’t help much.

I have a couple of questions though.

1) I’m on version 3.10. Is it worth updating to the latest version? It’s a faff to update. It’s a shame we can’t update using the web interface.

2) a few times recently, despite using the package that stops our machines from automatically retuning, I’ve come to use the Humax and found that it has completely untuned itself. I switch it on and it’s asking me to do a full retune, and of course it has lost the internet settings and scheduled events. I know that I can set this all up again easily though and restore from a backup, but it’s a pain as you get no warning this is going to happen.
Do you know if there’s anything I can do to stop this happening?

This is a "random" restore factory defaults operation, and we suspect it is triggered if the internal databases become corrupt as a means to rebuild them. A System Flush could help reduce the incidents, but requires a process similar to a firmware update...

Much of the restoration can be automated, see here: Restoring User Settings after Restore Factory Defaults

Well, yes. Some packages won't work with older CF, it lacks the hooks they require, plus diagnostics are improved. 3.10 really is very old.

We can – see the cfupdater package. NB: I don't think this is a beta package any more.

Thank you for your speedy reply. I’ll attempt to upgrade to the newest version and then follow the link for automating for restoring user settings. If I have to go through the fuss of using a USB stick then so be it. 🤣 Thank you again. And have a great Christmas.
