A new issue with the Aura

Yesterday evening I notice that about every 10 or 15 mins or so, the Aura would go to a blank screen for a few moments then come back on. I went through all the usual resets such as removing power cables, restarting apps etc, but still this problem persists. A search on AI suggested this might be a HDMI problem, so I unplugged and re-plugged, tried a different HDMI cable but still this problem persists. Any suggestions as to what the cause and the fix might be?

To be honest, with all the other issues I have been having with the Aura eg the constant reboots, I am thinking of finally ditching the Aura for an alternative, perhaps a Manhattan. Sadly I have no faith that this box will ever be stabilised with the appropriate software update by Humax.

I had a very similar problem and in my case using a different HDMI lead did fix the problrm.

I can assure you that the new software for the Aura will make the box significantly more resilient. I think it is ready for general release but Humax are holding back.

Strangely enough I've been getting an occasional, probably HDMI, glitch in the last few days. My TV seems to renegotiate the connection with the Aura. Two times that I noticed the glitch it was around 5:15pm and happened once.
It had happened before and I rejigged the HDMI cables and it has been okay for a few months.

Seems like you know something you can't talk about. ;) I wish they'd get on and release the software.

Martin, you are tempting me to wait a bit longer. What's your best guess for the software release date?

How do you expect him to know what Humax are going to do? Or why? Or why not?
The inference from his post was that he was in the know - perhaps a beta tester or something? I think EEPhil drew a similar conclusion if I am not mistaken.

The whole thing is a bit odd. Humax stopped updating the software several years ago, then suddenly they announce they are going to provide a new update and at about the same time they announce they are going to stop making the Aura. I suspect part of the reason would be a contractual requirement to update the Android operating system software. They did that and went much further with fixing other issues. I would hope it will be released soon but I have no knowledge of the actual date.

They announced the update to Android 14 nearly 2 years ago did they announce the end of the Aura that long ago? I do not think so. If they indeed have an update ready that fixes some of the many issues Aura owners have suffered for many years and maybe have had those fixes ready for a long time but continue to let Aura owners suffer then Humax deserve nothing but contempt and no amount of glossing over by their sycophants will convince me otherwise.

Thanks and much appreciated clarification.

Go get a Manhattan, it may not be perfect but you can be certain that it will never be as imperfect as an Aura.

"it may not be perfect" You can't move recordings to/from a Aura if the Aura more than often fails to record them can you?
Mine usually, but not always, manages to record. Playing back can be a problem. If something has recorded but won't play back on the Aura it usually will download to pc and play there. Or VLC might play it on the box.

I get 1 or 2 failed recordings a week these days and have started to view my recordings list just before recordings are due to start to see if the broken camera symbol appears and then jump to the TV guide to instant record if needed. Luckily most recordings I make are done whilst watching another channel at that time. Playback is never an issue for me.

It is usually if i've been unlucky and recorded something from Film4 (or something else on the same mux) where the picture appears blank and there is very occasional bursts of sound.
There was another recording, possibly on BBC1SD, where the playback failed 3/4 of the way through the programme. Downloaded it to PC and whole thing played.
