Assume v. Presume

What's wrong with it? He did start the sentence with a capital letter. Ah, I see, he didn't terminate it with a full stop. Probably done on a mobile that positively discourages correct capitalisation and punctuation even if yer wel edicated lik wot we is.

Hey - I also frequent a car enthusiast forum, and sometimes I just give up trying to understand the posts. That Amazon review is relatively easy.

I think it may have been based on an example from "Eats, Shoots and Leaves", apart from the circuit bored (bored of what, I ask?) and the cace. Or was it just a poor attempt at stream of consciousness?

PS capitalisation underlined in red!:p

Off to the land of ouzo and honey, will miss this really entertaining, informative, educational and comical thread. Yassas all.

Yup, but I have a life away from the 'Arms'. Ok, before any comments, I realise this is tantamount to heresy, but what the 'eck. Anyway carrying a thesaurus and dictionary would take me over the baggage allowance ( and before all the wags kick off, I can't leave SHMBO behind.)
The laptop stays at home and if you've ever had Tsipouro you realise you shouldn't be let loose with a keyboard!

Re the 'sigh' this should aid lift off in the morning! Priceless!! :D

I personally think that's bad form, criticising 'behind their backs', posters on our forums who are asking for help , unless like us here, they are deliberately putting themselves up for it.:frantic:
You're probably right, although there seems little difference between that and putting up examples from elsewhere. You're not getting a "like" for it though! :P

At the end, the poster apologises for the long post. Had it been broken into clauses, sentences, and paragraphs, it would have been a lot easier to read and easier to unpick (and not seemed so long). Surely this is useful advice to anyone wanting sound replies to their queries?

Probably because people come here for help, not to have their command of the English language criticised in the same forum, even if it is in a different topic.

I don't care;)

I wholeheartedly agree with both your points, but would it not have been better to have done it in either his thread or not at all (as is usually the case).
Anyway, shall we get back on the main topic of preciseness, proper punctuation and pedantry?
