Assume v. Presume

They always have been, it's just that educators and indoctrinators decided they were outlawed.
Sometimes they are inevitable, but only when all other options have been exhausted and found to be even more ugly.
I would be interested to know what rearrangement of those words reads better. "intended to replace ultimately" is horrible, "intended ultimately to replace" doesn't express the meaning.
Agreed about the former, but I think the latter does express the meaning . "ultimately intended to replace" reads much better though IMHO.

That could work. I was thinking of "ultimately" as an adverb to "replace" (and split that infinitive), but your construction makes it an adverb to "to be" (ie "is)... but should "intended" be part of the extended verb "to be", and therefore does "ultimately" then split that infinitive instead? My head hurts.

I still think "is ultimately intended to replace" has a subtle difference in meaning from "is intended to ultimately replace" - is it the intention or the replacement that is ultimate? I say it's the replacement.

The "upload a file" button, and then you get the option to embed an image or just leave it as an attachment. Alternatively you can host it somewhere else that can be accessed as a URL and put the URL inside [IMG]..[/IMG] tags (also available on the toolbar if you are using the full post editor - not available mobile).

Good grief! Newspapers used to employ proof readers... now they rely on computerised checking this is what we get.
