Assume v. Presume

This recording was on 7th May at the Colston Hall*.

* Now called Bristol Beacon by/for the wokerites, but not by me! This is a point of hilarity during the intro for Programme 4. Funnier still, the pal I was with is 15 years younger than me with a foot in the woke camp.
Sounds like a wokerite at the BBC edited the intro. I heard no mention of the venue in either episode.

Out for dinner last night, the pub was a typographic disaster area :(

My companion insisted the kitchen is run by somebody by the name of Special (but with a distinct lack of them).

Not only that, but the wipe-clean fancy printed table menus listed "Fish & Chip" (I guess it would have to be a very big chip), and there were no prices (only an integer number alongside each item).

The food was better than the typography, even if they did pile all the veg (including mash) on top of my steak pie (which I promptly removed to the plate!!!).

Have you redacted the menu? If not there wasn't much on offer - apart from rogue apostrophes. Those items listed in the corners look very expensive. (Long time since I ate, or drank, in a pub - so I've no idea whether it's reasonable.)

Think yourself lucky you never saw a colleague of mine eat at a pub near the University. Pie and mushy peas. Separate when delivered but all mashed up with every available bottled sauce including salad cream plus pepper. It looked pre-digested before he ate it.

Nothing wrong with his teeth, as far as I could tell. No-one ever got to the bottom of why he mashed up his pie and peas.
Some people are just born weird. I worked with a guy for 2 years who brought the same packed lunch every day of 2 sandwiches, they were always buttered white bread with nothing apart from lettuce and sugar.

Close, but no cigar. It was so nearly me :confused_::o_O: but I had 2 sandwiches, white bread and ham (quite often crisps on). I'm sure that'll be what knackered my blood pressure.

Ham is fair enough and you could easily have added a little variation with some mustard or pickle but only lettuce sprinkled with sugar is just strange.

And what would you do with all the time that is saved by using ham instead of cheese or fish paste etc ?
But you have to organise the ham or the cheese or the fish paste. Then you have to think "what shall I have today?". It's so much easier just to have the same thing every day, and if you don't get bored with it, why not? Never judge other people by your own desires, their desires might be different (and no less normal than yours).

I am surprised you advanced from breast feeding. Variety is indeed the spice of life not to mention as far as food is concerned the only way to get a full spread of the vitamins and minerals needed to stay healthy. It is no less easy to vary your options and to live such a ground hog day existence suggests some form of mental issue such as depression.

Reasons for not adding mustard or pickle? Could easily leak out of the sandwich or make the sandwich soggy. Alright if eaten fresh but if hanging about for several hours can be unpleasant. Although wrapped differently and prepared earlier, have you ever noticed how damp pre-packed supermarket bought sandwiches are?

I'm sure we never thought about that in the 1970s and 80s.

Catch an earlier bus, get to work earlier and do more productive work before other people arrive.
