It wasn't bad data input this time, it was lack of correctly restoring context after a critical region or scheduler task swap or similar, causing it to create its own bad data. As for "it's a very narrow window of 1ms" - rubbish, in computer systems 1ms is a huge window. I once had to track down an interrupt vulnerability window that was one cycle wide.
