Aura Android 14 update now

Just updated.
It seems to be a bit smoother in operation but there are some issues.
The first, not really an issue, just something to get used to: Before I could turn the Aura off by holding the power button and if recording the recording would continue, but I just discovered, it actually switches the Aura completely off.
Surprised it would do this, I just have to remember to press the power button once from now on if I am recording!
The second issue is Kodi and VLC aren't working for me.
I'm recording at the moment I don't want to mess up the recording, but tomorrow I'm going to uninstall both and install them again.
Hopefully this will work because I attach an external hard drive to the Aura and use it a lot with Kodi, and sometimes with VLC. I can't work out why they are both not working.
I was asked to enable permissions, which I did, but perhaps I missed something?
Perhaps a restart will get them to work, otherwise, as I said, I'll uninstall them and install them again.

That's what got Kodi working for me. Of course, you'll have to do all the setting up of Kodi as a new installation, telling it where your network shares and files are, and tweaking other settings to your liking.

What is a problem for me - though obviously not for others - is that I've lost FTP access to the Aura from the PC. I've changed nothing in the settings in Filezilla, but I get "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server". I'm still trying to work out what's broken and I'm reluctant to do a factory reset of the Aura because that would mean another reinstall of Kodi.

Are you using anonymous or with a password?
Both worked for me with filezilla with file sharing turned on with the AURA, it may be off after update.
Currently (Plain FTP , port 2323, logon Normal,user aura, Pass 0000 {Default pass}).
is the Aura visible as a device in windows 11,10.

After the update we have been discussing FTP at length and what changes have happened.
I had to do a factory reset advised by support to get other issues fixed but accounts and settings will need re-entering, NOT a freeview reset.
Some resets can clear your recording history.

I have the same problem with holding the power button and the Aura going into a complete shut down, any set recordings will no longer happen.
In that state the Aura does not respond to pressing the power button on the remote meaning I now have to get up and press the power button on the box.
Before the update you could start the Aura up using the power button on the remote.
Prior to the update the Aura would go into a deep standby and any recordings due to take place would record.
I do find this a problem and defeats the purpose of having a PVR.
If you are to go away for an extended period you could be confident of powering the Aura down (to deep standby) and your set recordings would be there when you come back.
After this update you would now be required to put the Aura into normal standby, where it is consuming more electricity which with the never ending increase in costs is less than ideal.

After updating I found out that if I switch from watching the Aura as the source of live TV to using the TV as source the Aura goes into standby after 30 seconds and also mutes the sound.
Before the update it wouldn't go into standby nor mute the sound.

The problems you are experiencing with VLC and Kodi could be due to moving up to Android 14.
After you updated did you make sure any apps you had previously installed had updates available to make them fully compatible with the new Android system.

The refused FTP connection is a problem that has plagued me since I bought the Aura. Here is my thoughts as they applied to the old (V9) software.
What I try, not always successfully, is to turn File Share off and on; if that doesn't work: turn it off, toggle Allow Anonymous, turn File Share on; possibly repeat ; turn Network Server on/off.

If nothing has worked try setting the IP settings (mine are static and I just re-enter the same IP. If yours are DHCP try setting something static and then return to DHCP). If all else fails reboot the Aura (and maybe the router/network switch - making sure it is active before the Aura reboots).

Usually fiddling with the Record & Share items is enough.

My meaning of the word 'restart' is turning the Aura off at the wall for 5 minutes.
Is there a 'restart' in the settings that I need to be using?

One other issue: HDMI-CEC
In the settings this is off but it is still 'on' so when I turn off the Humax, the tv now switches off which I don't want.
Any ideas?
I will be turning the power off at the mains for 5 minutes and testing Kodi and VLC next to try and get these to work.

'Deep Standby' I turned off a few months ago as I was getting a lot of programmes that were not recording. This cured it for me.
As you say, more electricity will now be used.

Sorted this out by turning off HDMI-CEC on the tv.

Holding the power button on the remote to shut down the Aura: Before you would hear the harddrive running for a while afterwards, now it completely shuts down straight away.

Removing the power by disconnecting either from the back of the Aura or unplugging and plugging back in is calle a full power cycle.

Press the Freeview button on the remote, click either right or left and stop at the power symbol top right.
Click that and you will see three options.
Restart Apps
Reboot
Shutdown.

Select Reboot and that will Restart the Aura.

Mine is still having issues with resolution switching and leaves it displayed in the top left hand corner. The only way to stop it is to play another file then go back to what I was watching initially.

It doesn’t seem to even attempt to switch, just display the resolutions.

Also had issues with sound from my home cinema going very quiet last night. Only was to resolve was to change settings in audio settings to another type, restart then change back to what I had initially.

I have gone from having one of the few reliable Auras to now having two significant issues, oh plus lots of flashing of black screens … not impressed!

I think I've tried everything but there now seems to be a problem with the Aura not seeing an external harddrive connected which is a right pain in the ass.
Is this now a known issue?
I've also tried a couple of other File Managers: AnExplorer and File Manager + but the connected external hard drive is still not detected.

Google AI said this: Android 14 has completely dropped support for certain file formats or treats older partition types rigidly.
My hard drive uses NTFS.
Before I wipe it and try exFAT can someone confirm that there is now a known issue with connected hard drives not being detected and switching to exFAT will not help?

I am currently waiting for a trial update for NTFS, ExFat support, NTFS and Exfat wont currently work, hang on for the update.
Fat32 does work but for files <4Gb.
Look at older postings for the explanation from humax support under my tag Andrew! .
Also Look for the message icon at the screen top if it is showing it may say drive corrupt and also in AURA settings devices preferences/storage you may see usb ejected safely.
The drive is not corrupt just not readable at present by Android 14.

Hopefully we won't have to wait 3 or 4 years for the update!

The Audio issue has also happened since Android 14.
Audio Passthrough is broken and everything on my box regardless of codec is coming out the amp as DolbyDigital +, even DTS 5:1
Support is sending down a test update next week.

I have had screen flashing for a long time it appears to be the screen resolution being updated when playing something, I think its the upscaling which cant be turned off on the Aura.
My TV and AV Amp and Bluray player all have it, I turned it off on the amp.

I don't think the Aura reads exFAT formatted drives, it has been mentioned that it may be added at a later date.
