Aura Android 14 update now

So IS there really an update as of 30th October,2026?

I couldn't be bothered to read all six pages of this forum to find out... Id be very surprised, especially as Humax have declared the Aura box to be 'obsolete'

Yes last Friday Humax released an update (ver 1.00.57), then a few days later a further update was released which takes the firmware version to 1.00.59.
you should read all 6 pages.

I am still lingering and waiting to hear from others if it is worth updating or not. Do we know if this is it or are there further updates coming from Humax?

I have had 1.00.59 for a week or so. These are my findings. Things generally feel snappier and the update to a less old version of android is welcome. Not noticed any new features.
BUT. I had the kodi app installed to play local media. This simply does not start even after an app reinstall. Youtube also does the same but intermittently. So does the live TV app.
I haven't tried a factory reset yet because I'd lose all the media. I may still try this.
So, maybe you would be more lucky than me. Maybe not. If there were no app hangs it'd be worth it for the few benefits.
With the hangs the box is on the edge of being unusable.

I only use my Aura to watch TV and record. I use my Smart LG OLED TVs apps for streaming and catch up. So in my circumstances do you think its worth doing the update?

No, because sometimes I can't get it to watch live tv. A restart always gets it back working however. But then you might be lucky...

After about a weeks worth of being on the latest version 1.00.59 the Aura has not done a random reboot or restart
something it would do on occasions and with differing frequency.

However, if while watching the Aura as source I decide to change to TV as source after thirty seconds the Aura will now go into standby
and will also mute the sound.
When long pressing the power button (remote) and selecting OK to power off the Aura it seems to completely shut down, as opposed to going in to Deep Standby.
Previously it would record items in the schedule while in deep standby, so far it has not. It will not respond to a press of the power button (remote) to wake it up,
now I have to go over to the box and press that power button.
It was also noted by another user and confirmed by me that when playing movies/ videos (from USB media on VLC or Kodi both set to audio passthrough) with differing audio
codecs the Aura now doesn't differentiate and everything is being pushed through as Dolby Digital + according to the display on my AVR, 2 channel codecs do not come
through as stereo but default on my AVR to Pro Logic II.
Also noted that while watching live TV and pressing the rewind button to review something you now get a white rotating circle for about 10 seconds, the picture is paused, when the circle
disappears you can then rewind the broadcast to where you want to rejoin, this is slower than it was previously.
The Aura still is prone to pixellation while other devices have no issue with signal.

Humax have still not updated their Humax UK Aura Support Software page to include any details of what features the update provided and what 'fixes' it included.

That would be a major concern for me; I use Kodi to stream files over the network from the PC every day. Which version of Kodi are you on? Is there an update which might be OK?

When I last looked (yesterday), I wasn't being offered an update for the Aura. Unless the Kodi problem can be resolved, I'll stop looking!

Update update. Finally gave up and factory reset the box. So far so good, all problems with hangups disappeared (so far). Still says android 14 so didn't lose the upgrade. Also didn't lose any recordings (didn't reformat the hard disk). Scheduled recordings and settings lost obviously.

Thanks for continuing the updates on the update. What about Kodi - is that OK after the factory reset?

Not tried it. Bit scared in case it was kodi that caused the original problem. Plus I have a dedicated kodi box now so I don't need it. I suspect it would work fine. The symptoms were the same. Click on the icon, nothing happens.
