Aura failing to record Channel 5 HD

For the last couple of weeks my Aura has been failing to record Channel 5 programmes which are on a series schedule. I've had to resort to setting up a manual recording at the same time. The 'Preparing to Record' notification pops up 10 minutes before the series recording is due as per normal, but the recording just doesn't happen. The series schedule has moved on to the next programme.

Is anyone else having this problem? It's only happening on Channel 5, every other recording on other channels work perfectly.

Might be helpful if we know what programme you are trying to record, and whether the same problem occurs on Channel 5 SD. Unfortunately i can't check this on my Aura as I use padding rather than the accurate recording setting (AR). It maybe that C5 are mucking up the AR signals.

More than likely not relevant but a few days ago I noticed that Channel 5 in the TV Aura TV guide showed future shows up to at least a day less that the other channels. I get similar failed recordings to the OP at least once or twice a week, they show the 'Preparing to Record' then fail and show the broken camera symbol but it happens on various channels at various times and not just on one MUX. The only common factor is that they are serial recordings.

Channel 5 HD on my fvp 5000 has refused to set up recording the final episode of Hardacre next week, yet I was able to set up the 5+1 SD channel version to record, so I'd suggest to the OP that the issue lies with 5 not your machine

I would suggest the issue is with the crappy software on your machine. It schedules perfectly on HD on my T2 HDR.

So what does that mean to this layman, is it that the programme guide on my machine hasn't updated the coding and just deleted the original, so my series recording hasn't updated when it should do so automatically?

I guess it's something like that, but not having seen what you see it's difficult to know. Have you tried turning it off and on again and leaving it 10 minutes to ensure it's had a chance to re-populate before attempting to re-schedule it? The CRIDs and SCRIDs appear consistent with the previous episode on all channels.

Yes, then I can look at my logger and prove it one way or the other.
I thought you might, but didn't want to impose.
That's extremely unlikely.
Well, what do I know? Bgr all!

I don't use AR or watch Hardacres. I can tell from my Aura that the CRID for next Thursday's episode on HD finishes v8gfsh2 and the SCRID r513ge and are the same on my 5000T.
Not relevant to Hardacres but I just attempted to series link Castle (5HD). It only set episodes Monday & Tuesday despite there being episodes the rest of the week. And the problem is: Mon/Tue series 4, rest of week series 5. Sky Mix however records all episodes from all series for Enterprise.

5 channels are often guilty of that. I have been recording X-files for nostalgia sake on 5 Action and I have to keep resetting the series record after each season of 24 episodes.

Yes, tried that and makes no difference, I get the programme on the guide, highlight it, press the red button, the pop up showing record episode or series record comes up, click on record episode...and nothing.

For information...
The first problems occurred about two weeks ago with the last two episodes of 'The Fortune' and 'Reuben Owen: Life In The Dales'. Neither recorded and I had to resort to catchup - a ghastly experience with all those ads to be forced to watch. Last week's 'Reuben Owen' also failed. The next failure was last Friday when it didn't record 'Portugal with Michael Portillo' but I had also set up a manual recording for this which worked properly. Although that programme appears to be in a series, next Friday's episode has a different title. As an aside, the Guide entries for Friday 12th did not populate until part way through last week even though the entries for Saturday and Sunday were present.

At the moment I will continue to set up both a manual recording and an AR controlled one.

I did that and the recording sets on a 5000T. No problems setting on the Aura either. This does not mean the actual recording will take place.

Presumably "next Friday's episode" isn't using the same title because Milan is not in Portugal.

Last Friday's Portugal with Michael Portillo is a repeat from 2025 and recorded fine for me on another recorder. It currently appears to be just a repeat of the first episode, as the same Friday night slot for next Friday has an episode from a different series in its place. Next Friday's slot has scheduled episode 3 from the series Michael Portillo's Milan.

Although that programme appears to be in a series,
It wasn't as it had no SCRID - the last field in the last line above. But they changed the event ID the day before broadcast, so who knows whether it had a SCRID before. My logger doesn't capture that unfortunately (it's a bit of an annoyance which I keep meaning to fix, but it's not that easy to).
next Friday's episode has a different title.
It's a completely different programme/series - "Milan with Michael Portillo" "V7QQAKJ" "R5104G"
As an aside, the Guide entries for Friday 12th did not populate until part way through last week
Yes, that happens on a not infrequent basis. They noticed around lunchtime on Monday 8th (as you can see above) and published the "TV day"'s worth of schedule. Perhaps this was the cause of the lack of SCRID (and it would certainly be the cause of the failed recording).

@prpr
Thanks for taking the time to investigate the history of events. It seems C5 can be a bit hit and miss with their programme data, although I don't usually have much trouble with them. I'll see how things go over the next few weeks.
