Aura keeps jumping out of playback

Personally I don’t do that anymore as I prefer to start with a clean slate in case something that I back up is the issue.
Not my preferred way of backing up the schedule, and for the same reason. Either pen and paper or photograph the schedule.

Can't see anything in the backup file that could cause problems when restoring - but with Humax you never know. I have had occasions when duplicate schedule or duplicate recordings have been listed. Then there have been failed recordings for no good reason - one possibility could have been restoring a backup.

It works a lot better with the new software than it used to. I just wish they would make the software generally available.
Have they given you a reason why it is not generally available?

From what I remember Humax said at the time of launch they would support the Aura through software/ firmware updates for 7 years
The Aura went on sale in November 2020, so next year is when they drop support.

The last major update was in August 2021.

There have been incremental updates to fix blank screen and audio issues on a few channels since then
but nothing to address the many bugs and irritations that the Aura presents us with.

The rumours regarding the anticipated update started around Oct/ November 2024 but nothing has happened 2 years on.

I am beginning to wonder if Humax are maybe going to drag their feet for another year when they will be under no obligation to support the Aura.

No reason given. They have put a lot of work into the new software and there must be a reason for doing it. The only thing that occurs to me is that they are might be intending to relaunch the Aura as they have done previously with other models NB this is pure speculation by me.

Finally after endless prodding and provoking you spill some tea :). How did you receive the update? is it something you could copy and make available to others?

Unlikely, it was probably the same method used in the beta testing for the last mini-update. Didn't you have to provide the box serial number and perform some little tricks to download the update from Humax servers?

After doing the full shutdown, I got 3 evenings trouble free playback and then last night it was jumping out of playback every couple of minutes. I did the full shutdown again and it was ok, but obviously this will only be temporary.

After reading this thread I did the full shutdown as I have had occasional failed recordings for a while and it has been ages since I last did one and the next day I had 3 failed recordings. There never seems to be a one size fits all solution to any of Aura's many quirks.

If no further forward you may need to consider a Factory Reset.
Make sure you note any schedules and settings you've changed if you do this. In theory, if you do the correct reset, all recordings should be preserved. Do the wrong reset and the recordings may still be preserved but not accessible by normal means.
If a factory reset doesn't solve the problem you may have to consider a full reset including reformatting the disk - all recordings will be lost if you don't save them first.
Of course, you could contact Humax Support, but they will probably only take you through the same steps we've pointed out.
