How do I save the recordings? I didn't realise this was an option.
I know of one way that works, there may be others.
You need to have a computer with enough spare space (on the system disk or a USB disk) on the same
wired network as the Aura. I could not get a WiFi connection to work for this.
Make sure the Aura is set to file share: [F]/Settings/Record & Share/File Share - toggle to on. Lower down you should see FTP Address. Mine reads
ftp://aura<pincode>@192.168.1.12:2323/.
On your computer you will need an ftp client. I'm using Windows 11 (or XP) and choose to use WinSCP.
Use the ftp client to login to the Aura. In my case the pin code is the default - 0000, so the login details I use are:
address: ftp://192.168.1.23/
port: 2323
user: aura
password: 0000
The login's root directory contains other directories including Recordings. In that directory are Upload, ByTime, BySeries and ByChannels. Pick one of the "By" directories and you will find a list of recordings (in directories). You can either transfer the whole directory to the computer or enter the directory and transfer the .ts file. If the name includes "_enc" you will not be able to play the .ts file on the computer and we don't know how to decrypt such files. Other files should be playable.
If you save all the recordings you wanted to - a tedious and time consuming procedure but any reasonable ftp client should allow you to select multiple directories for an unattended download - after the Aura's disk has been wiped you could upload the files back to the Aura. I have not tried uploading multiple files, but I know the following will work for a .ts file downloaded from the same Aura only. Upload a .ts file to the Upload directory - if you enter the Upload directory the instructions are listed.
1. Please upload your recording files here to restore them to your receiver
2. Please use other directories (e.g. Movies) for other media files including recording files from other receivers
3. You can share and watch SD recordings from other receivers. But you cannot playback HD recordings from others
If the .ts file is uploaded to this directory it will eventually be placed in the recordings list as it was before the disk was wiped. I did a short test and downloaded a HiDef (HD) recording, deleted it from the Aura and then uploaded it. It will also list and play properly on the Aura.
