AV2HDR V1.6 and V1.4 Download Links

I have just loaded a 4:3 vob into AV2HDR. No problem it's 4:3 output by the Foxsat, as Brian says check Menu/Settings/TV Setup/Display Format is 4:3 Pillar Box. If still a problem check the file info in AV2HDR says 4/3. If not the file is likely to have the wrong pixel aspect ratio specified. Open it in Medianinfo to confirm the specified aspect ratio.

Hi
changed the settings - still the same, fills the screen

Other sizes have been encoded and successfully played back on the HDR,

(The horizontal, or vertical resolution is then stretched by the HDR to fill the screen area).

However, this is very much a case of trial and error. The above sizes are the only ones guaranteed to work.

Video format MPEG-2 or H264

H264 codec profile max High@L4

Aspect ratio 16/9.

Scan type progressive or interlaced

Frame rate 23.976, 25, or 29.97 frames per second.

Audio SD or HD

MPEG1 layer 2 or Dolby AC3.

Supported containers for A/V streams are .TS .MTS .M2TS .MPG and .VOB.

You can drag and drop your video anywhere in AV2HDR's window. If the container format is supported it will display streams information. However, that does not guarantee playback on the HDR. The video and audio streams must also match the above specifications.

Please Note: For HD playback on the HDR, the source H264 video stream must contain NAL units of type SEI, and in the correct order. i.e the SEI unit must precede the Pic Slice. Video streams created using applications which use the FFmpeg x264 codec are known to be incompatible with the HDR as they are encoded without any SEI units at all.

A freeware application, meGUI has been used successfully to create compatible H264 streams from other video formats.

AV2HDR cannot, and never will, import other video formats such as .AVI .DIVX .WMV .MOV

These must first be re-encoded to the above specifications using the software of your choice. There is an abundance of software re-encoders available for this purpose.

Surprised it even opened the file in the first place.

I was thinking the content was being mis-recognised as 16:9, in which case the aspect setting would make no difference.

I played a 4:3 DVD on my blu-ray, and the only way I could get it right was to set the display (in this case a Qumi) to 4:3 mode.

Sorry Graham, I forgot to mention that I then TSmuxer-ed the mkv file.

Which changed the container but not the actual video content. Look at the file output from TSmuxer.

To make it compliant you would need to resample to an acceptable resolution.

TSmuxer has no recoding capability.

Unfortunately, the links in the list above no longer work (404 Not Found), please can someone see if the files still exist?
I'm specifically looking for the Linux Version.
Thanks

I can’t help with the Linux version I’m afraid. But here is the last windows one released.

Probably would work in Wine, I have run the Windows version in a VM but was hoping for the native version.
No worries, it's not something I use everyday.
