I'm still not getting it here, I've only got the four HD channels tuned into my box, so perhaps that is why it is not working for me.

I've got to ask, why only HD channels?

I use a pair of Toppy 5800's for my SD viewing and recording, as they give much better SD picture quality than the Humax HD boxes, and are much nicer to use.

No that is completely wrong, BBC HD and all HD channels are not transmitting teletext yet, the BBC HD channels are likely to transmit teletext first.
