So pounds, shillings and pence are proper nouns too? I don't think so. Sterling might be, but lsd? No.
Apart from that, the rules do not exclude proper nouns.

Said it before: normal rules for word games (scrabble etc) bar words which normally contain a capital letter, otherwise you could use "Fred" or make up any name you like. If "Dinar" can (correctly) appear in an English sentence as "dinar", that would be fine... but so far as I know, it can't.

Mostly spelled with a small d indicating it's not a proper noun as I said in post #651. That many people can't be wrong. Oh hang on a mo, it is the Internet I am talking about.
