Can't access wireless stuff

You're probably right. I think I may give up. Do you think using a lead will get me connected or do you think it's a bigger problem than just Wifi?

No, I'm sure you'll be fine with a wire. I regard it as better to start that way because there are fewer things to go wrong.

In the Menu >> Settings >> System >> Internet Setting >> Configure LAN >> Configure IP = DHCP, click Apply, and away you go.

I installed the wireless helper to ensure that the remote scheduler would get a look-in (by getting the wireless link working while booting up) - didn't find it needed for normal connection when the HDR was on for hours.

Just twice I've had problems establishing the wireless link with an Edimax dongle - and resorted to getting the stuff working on a static IP via a cable, and then going back to the wireless dongle. I never worked out why this might help.
