Edit: There just isn't any real challenge to it most of the time. Let's get back to one involving rearrangement of the letters.

Some people seem to find it a challenge at times (including me!).

I can't think of a rule set which strikes a happy medium between running out quickly and only running out when the dictionary becomes exhausted, and which does not fall into the catchment of web resources which can practically give you the next word without having to think about it. Maybe it's time for somebody else to have a go at setting up the next game.
