FOX T2 Hacking?

No, the HD/HDR-Fox T2, as per this section of the forum and the link to af123's message in post #141 above.
The Foxsat CF came earlier as it was an older box.

I was only thinking the other day how long I’ve been using the CFW? It seems like it’s always been there. I’ve learnt a heck of a lot about computers because of it and the community around it.

I must have bought a Foxsat circa 2010. from good old Richer Sounds.

I can’t remember finding and realising what the CFW would let me do. But I can remember loading the CFW on our new Foxsat for the first time and thinking „if this bricks it, my wife is going to kill me“.

Turned out to be one of the best things I’ve done.

Being able to maintain my parents T2’s remotely and thus keep them informed and entertained, boarders on priceless.

Me too. I knew almost nothing about Linux back in 2012 (but had used CP/M at school), Unix some 25+ years prior, then DOS and all that followed that for years.

In autumn 2012 I was urgently researching a replacement for mother's Panasonic PVR, which had died and caused loads of anguish, so time was short. It was a toss-up between Youview and Freeview and then I came across this site and the CF which had been going for 18 months already. That sealed it and I went to John Lewis the next day and purchased the first HDR T2 (the only new one in the fleet!) and loaded the CF (2.11 I think) almost immediately. I'm really glad I didn't go Youview as I would've hated it.

Likewise.

I needed a way to do the same and after only a few days tidy-folders was born. tunefix and then tunefix-update were the things that allowed remote retunes/additions for stuff like Wimbledon and the Olympics where I wasn't visiting between the services being made available and the start of the events. It was clunky to start with, but necessity and then feedback from others made it all quite refined.

FOX T2 Hacking?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the Humax brand, does anybody know if the firmware can be hacked or modded in any way?

On search google I found some old sites that refer to hacking old Humax satelite boxes or old PVRs that use the .hdr firmware and also some tools, but they are probably years out of date by now.

Does anyone have any knowledge about this?
I'm thinking if Humax wont fix the firmware in the HDR T2 to how I would like it, I may attempt it myself.
See my post in the Wishlist thread for an idea of what I want..

Wow. How did it go from Chris to af123 ?

There wasn't a name change, that's the whole point. It's perfectly obvious that it's two different people.

Don't worry, I'm clueless much of the time. I find 1 April a huge chore because I rarely spot stupid pointless April Fool's jokes and I don't even understand why it's funny or why it's 1 April.

I think you've misinterpreted SemiRamis's post, and therefore my reply to his post. There is no implication of an identity change, "it" refers to the epicentre of ongoing research.
