Freesat Coaxial Cable rubber split?

Hi,

I was putting new cable clamps on Freesat Coaxial Cable on the outside of my property, during removing the old clamps I have accidentally split a minor bit of the rubber coating on the cable. I have covered this over with black insulation tape, I think it will be watertight, but I was just wondering if anyone on here has ever come across this issue before and what they used to cover the split up?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Bind it up with self amalgamating tape, However it sounds as if your coax cable should be replaced. Over time the coax outer coating detiorates due to Ultra Violet light. The outer coating isn't rubber by the way,

I would like to echo what Graham says, but if you don't have any self amalg and you do have some silicone sealer use a dollop of that over the nick.
