Freeview Play ?

I have been trying to find a way to get ‘Great! Player’ app working on TV.
The Samsung TV does not give it as an option to add.

On PVR is shows as an entry for Chn 63
When you select it advises to ‘Watch Great! player now on Freeview Play connected devices’

The PVR is Freeview recorder /player/ with full tuner.
Is there a way to use as a ‘Freeview Play’ connected device.? … don’t know what one of those is.

Think this could be in the wrong part of the Forum. Nothing to do with customised firmware for HD/HDR-Fox-T2.

Freeview Play is one of the spec iterations of Freeview ... https://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview-play it uses the latest HTML5 (web based) interactive TV system rather than MHEG (old BBC 'digital text' style).

As you've posted in this sub forum I assume the PVR you have is the HDR-Fox-T2. That only has MHEG and can't do it but selected other more recent Humax PVRs can.

Samsung won't pay to get Freeview certification and instead do their own thing aka Samsung TV Plus that can use HTML5 (for iPlayer, ITV X etc.,.) so ask them to include it? (May be that Great have to pay Samsung for that, though).

Edit: Great mention Samsung TV Plus on their FAQs page... so it should work one way or another. Check out Samsung forums or other places like AVForums for your TV model.

What with me misinterpreting what people post, (is it my stupidity or their ambiguity?) and the lack of information some people post (it can be a right PITA trying to elicit such information), it is becoming harder and harder to attempt to provide useful information to those who ask for it.

Therefore not Freeview Play. If it was Freeview Play, it would be badged as such.

I just made the assumption that it was a HDR FoxT2 as it was posted in the T2 Customised Firmware forum and they said it was a recorder but the post has now been moved so that assumption cannot be made by others now.

If you can get Great! Player working on your phone, try casting it to your TV.
EDIT: From my Android mobile, Great! Player only seems to show Google Chromecast/TV.
