Government Finally Reveals When It Wants Freeview Gone

I read this information elsewhere and wasn't convinced that the government has made up it's s mind. Just a non-commitment to an extension or possibly condensing things down to three multiplexes. Who knows? Anyone questioned the king of Manchester on his views?
 
Fixed. When has the government ever made up its mind, flip flopping ability gives them a way to slither out of everything if it suits them. Maybe the Manc Messiah will see this as a cheap easy way to curry favor with the masses and extend the deadline.
 
Also note. The government green paper is a consultation document (possibly with the public). If it had been a white paper we'd know what they really think. Does anyone, apart from frog face, want to p off us oldies at the next election by threatening to take our TV away and/or make us pay extra for fast unlimited broadband?

Condensing down to three multiplexes would be fine with me and my parents and aunt. Mostly it would be the pointless low bit rate crap channels that are lost anyway, and all our gear is DVB-T2 compliant. Three muxes in T2 which no simulcasting of SD and HD channels would actually mean 120mbits of channels, where ignoring the T2 mux (since it's mostly simulcast at present) we currently have 5 * 24 = 120mbits of channels, so we might not lose much. We only need to get rid of enough channels to retain HD for the channels currently in it.

Would require ITV to put the correct regions in HD like the BBC did, eventually. HD is a pain as it can be awkward to archive - depending on which Humax you use (and is still working when any changes are made). Sometimes iPlayer and STV Player have their uses (with yt-dlp) - but for how long in their current form?

I don't archive TV to any meaningful degree. I don't understand why people do, it's only telly and it will probably be repeated anyway.

If Burnham is looking at Freeview, he should also reconsider the gerrymandering (and waste of money) that is Local Government Reorganisation. Probably low down in his in-tray after defence, welfare and the big waste of money - No. 10 North. Something tells me the Manchester Maniac will soon shoot himself in the foot - perhaps we need a lettuce.

I read something this morning that said some report or other was recommending not relying on the internet for TV in case it fails and that retaining the existing 'tower' broadcast network was desirable as it's a national asset. I certainly agree with that, and the danger of all your eggs in one basket is very real, especially with the threats from abroad, and the ones hiding within plain sight under the guise of migrants/asylum seekers who are already here and being handed everything.

She claims to want to make a comeback. She wasn't up to it last time so why would it be any different this time. How ****ing stupid is she?
Perhaps another vegetable with a short shelf-life will get it.
 
The lettuce wasn't Truss, it outlasted her and Queasy. I'm open to other vegetables. Not a celeriac though, they last too long.
 
Although there appears to be some misunderstanding concerning the consultation from <cord_busters>, hopefully details of the response will be published as far as privacy laws allow. If past consultations that concern TV are to go by, Joshua_Welby will be one of the few members of the public who do voice any opinions or concerns.

Its easy to find the consultation and read the nature of the current alternatives, but the response process took me a couple of searches. Links for responses are:
