Has 1.02.27 Taken Over???

I've always said the same. Digital communications = potential for encryption and rights management (ie no free TV any more, never mind that we have already paid for it). AR = potential to prevent recording of specific content. Enforced retunes = you will take this channel whether you like it or not and even if you deleted it only yesterday. Enforced firmware updates = we will control you in ways we hadn't thought of when the equipment was sold to you.

...once again the favourite channel list didn't restore
Do you happen to have a copy of any error message that you get when restoring the favourites list? Can you give me an idea of what's in your favourites list so I can try and replicate this?

...and I thought the message only appears at boot up, wrong it appears every time the channel is changed.

You have this coming up now? Can you try updating NETWORK_CHANGE_VER to a very high number in TBL_USERCONFIG and see if that suppresses it?

Hi AF, no error messages, the script ran looked like all was OK (copy shown below, sorry not very aufait with how to get the nice screen grabs you guys manage!). (Interestingly when I went to re-set the favourites, the name I set "Channels" was still there, just no channels listed!)

As for what was in the list, only main BBC, ITV and Ch5 channels, and I re-named the list "Channels" in case the apostrophe was the issue!

the main issue I have with the fact that the box is asking to re-tune each time, (I only see this at re-boot, not channel change - YET!) is that with my Panasonic box, it does the same thing as it thinks new channels are available, even though they are not, but it highlights "Later" (no "No" as in that boxes case), which means if someone presses "OK" nothing happens. That would be an improvement if we can't stop this happening.

Thanks - I'll have another look at the favourite restore.

If your box is still popping up the retune message, you could be the perfect guinea pig to see if we can stop it.

Did you reboot straight away after the restore? That's probably needed for the Humax software to spot the restored favourites..

Hope it is of help! (How do you guys get the nice code text in blue that I see so often?!)

Thanks!! :frantic:Well it isn't a major issue the re-tune message, just that a friend pressed "Now" earlier today whilst I was out doing Freeview re-tunes for my neighbors (sheltered block of flats and housing association said "Do it yourselves!" when elderly residents asked what to do!! And I hadn't bothered to take a back-up of the schedule after this morning, as I assumed (I know BH it should be "Presume"!) I wouldn't need a restore again today {note to self, never assume as it makes an a*re out on U and Me!} And I was very casually told as they left, that "By the way, something funny happened with your Freeview box when I turned the TV on.", so they simply turned the TV off!

Yes I did, as I am told to do on WebIf, also the wording that says you need to add a schedule is still showing

I was going to try this but I accidentally pressed the wrong button when the nag message reappeared which started a scan. BTW hitting stop then the cancel button continues the scan. I then stopped the scan and saved an empty channel list. Then I let it complete another scan, saved the results and rebooted - no nag message. After cleaning out the channel list, reboot still no nag mesage. Restored the schedule (I don't use favourites) and rebooted, the nag message is back. I saved a copy of the setup database when it was nagging earlier, when it was working again and when it was broken again. There was no difference in the latter two.

Thanks - useful data. So it's probably related to the DSO event in the schedule list?

Hi AF, just to advise (in case it has any bearing on the issue) I don't have a DSO event listed anymore (it was there until this morning) in my schedule list that I used to see on WebIf and RS, so not sure if that is relevant?

Perhaps, but I don't see a DSO event in the schedule list.

I tried deleting all the events from the schedule list but after another reboot it is still nagging.

The ASO_NOTIFY_FLAG entry had been added to the setup database, after deleting it the nag message disappears. So it seems the DSO notify event must be in the backup and is causing the ASO_NOTIFY_FLAG to be set.

What is the format used for the backup files? I should like to try stripping out the DSO event.

Later... I figured out the format and stripped it out. It seems to be fine now.

Thanks xyz321.
I've just uploaded webif 0.9.6-1 which will not restore the DSO event to the schedule which should stop people getting caught in a loop.

Here's a diff between the state of setup.db immediately after DSO and how it ended up after many reboots and rescans in case it helps anyone else.

Code:

I've just uploaded webif 0.9.6-1 which will not restore the DSO event to the schedule which should stop people getting caught in a loop.

I have a slight fly to put in the ointment. I don't know how to explain where my retune came from, because the DSO event for Mendip was 28th March, and there was no similar event on Wenvoe (even if I was tuned to it). And then, supposing there was an event in the schedule, I restored the schedule straight after but the nags did not reappear.

Any guesses?

Thanks xyz321.

Hi AF, thanks for this :) , my box auto upgraded to the latest WebIf and when I got up this morning, I turned the TV on, and the box had Auto woken up as usual, and no message or re-tune  , so I will keep an eye on it, and let you know if anything goes amiss!

Many thanks for all your hard work on this issue, hopefully after the DSO events finish in October this wont be an issue again!
