HD-FOX T2 Newbie

What packages do people suggest?

Difficult to answer, I think people want to be sparring at least to start with, in order to load the CPU as little as possible, Most of the packages in the Extra Features area provide specific Unix functionality, The general rule is if you dont know what it does you probobly don't need it, However these functions don't 'run' all the time and will only take up CPU time when executed by command line, There are also some exceptions in this area like flatten and nicesplice.
The big ones are obviously Remote Schedulling, On the Box Editing and various ways of decrypting / downloading programs to your P.C. Also don't forget the new functions that are automatically built-In to the Web-IF HERE which don't need extra packages to be added

Okay, got the web interface installed. Is there anything esle i need installed so i can decrypt and download to my pc?

Might be a stupid question, but when im downloding packages, should i have my External HDD connected?

Okay. Cant seem to get the boothdr to work, says its downloading the firmware then says cannot find or open, then configuring, but seems to be stuck at that!?

I am really terrible at this aint i!

If you are using an HDR-FOX, then the install goes to the internal drive. For an HD-FOX you need a properly-formatted external drive.

Using HD-Fox with properly formatted HDD. i get the following when trying to install .

>>> opkg install BootHDR
Installing BootHDR (1.0) to root...
Downloading http://hummypkg.org.uk/hdrfoxt2/base/BootHDR_1.0_mipsel.opk.
Can't find /mod/hdr_fox_t2_upgrade.hdf. Will try to download but if this fails manually copy hdr_fox_t2_upgrade.hdf to /mod and try again. Now attempting download...

Configuring BootHDR.

Using HD-Fox with properly formatted HDD. i get the following when trying to install .

Your USB Hard Disk drive MUST be place at all times when Your Humax is on (not in standby) because part of the Custom Firmware operating system is on the USB HDD the directory /mod is on the USB HDD

I constantly keep getting stuff like

Configuring samba.
or configuring xxxxx

Nothing ever displays after that. If i leave it say for 5 mins and then go to the installed page. it isn't installed. Rebooting doesn't seem to effect it either.

I must be doing something wrong?

Im still getting the following after switching to using firefox.

>>> opkg install BootHDR Installing BootHDR (1.0) to root... Downloading http://hummypkg.org.uk/hdrfoxt2/base/BootHDR_1.0_mipsel.opk. Can't find /mod/hdr_fox_t2_upgrade.hdf. You need to install the boothdr package from the command line at present; installing from the web interface doesn't work properly.

Telnet to the Humax then type:

Code:
humax# opkg install wget
humax# opkg install BootHDR --force-reinstall

Used putty.

Wget worked fine, did the step below got the following;

unknown package boothdr
collected errors
cannot install package boothdr

opkg install BootHDR --force-reinstall

Seems to be working,

HDR Filesystem extracted
cleaning up temps files
humax#
humax#

All done I'm guessing? Reboot?

Should i see something under the Opt+ now? Ive got

Toggle_enc, crop etc, shouldn't i have Decrypt, or whatever it is?

Yeahh, no idea how to do that! Ill just wait till WEBIF is fixed i think
It's the BootHDR package that needs tweaking. L )

For a quick test, telnet in again and type:

Code:
humax# boothdrmode

The TV screen will stop, maybe go green, then come back on again. Check what colour the pie chart is in the media list.

Pie chart looks green i think. I now under media files have.

Family Guy_20120103_2253.ts (296.89 MiB)
Video (@297.7MiB)

still doesn't show decrypt though in the opt+ menu
