I get the impression they only replenish stock on Amazon every so often. Hopefully at some point they will ship some more UK models over. I also got both my Quatro's via eBay so that's definitely a good option if you are not desperate for one, but there don't seem to be many around of late...

I have now accumulated around 1TB of recordings with no issues whatsoever. I'm reaching the point where I'm going to have to knock up something to organise/rename the recordings to my liking. @lc200 Just wondering if you have any improvements planned/coming in this area? Just trying to decide how much effort to put into this at this stage...

Would it be possible to keep the results of completed recordings for longer than 24 hours?
Possibly by having a Recorded tab ordered Most recent first with an option to delete the recording file.
Playing videos via the web page would be nice but is probably not practical since .ts is not one of the video formats supported by modern web browser.

I had a couple of recording failures yesterday but they have already dropped of the list, the log shows dvrontime crashed during the recording

@MymsMan Seems like a network issue between the HDHomeRun and the PC running DVROnTime...? It would definitely be nice to have a complete recording history (off the recording schedule tab perhaps?) with the ability to filter for failures/errors. Where an error occured it would also be nice if the entry could be expanded to show the full error message.

That looks like a network failure and it no longer was getting any data from the tuner. I will look at handling the error better as it seems to have crashed out.

Unfortunately a few more recording errors

The Chase. Pointless, ROHOG and Thames at Night all recorded correctly and are watchable.

News At Ten shows as complete recording but is in fact a 0 length file,

A "M A S H" folder was created but is empty. This is at least partially my fault the system seems to have gone to sleep at around 01:20 but I would have expected to see the first 20 minutes of the first MASH episode recorded. I have now changed my Power settings to Sleep - Never.

Should I be worried about these messages, I had almost 1500 of them yesterday!
They make interpreting the log difficult but I don't see many breakups in the videos that I have watched.

Some oddities I have noticed in the logs:
The BBC news appeared to start recording normally and the tuner was in use when it was due to start watching for South Today (as expected)
There are no Streaming stopped messages at the expected end of the News so South Today wasn't recorded. The Humax recorded both so there was no problem with the AR markers.
Similarly the log shows M*A*S*H apparently starting a 01:00

Both recordings eventually timed out midday today when I started using the computer again,
It then schedules South Today and the 2nd MASH episode which of course fail as beyond maximum time,
Then DvrOnTime appears to restart itself 2 minutes later!

A long time user here of the HDR-FOX T2 from the day it was launched, still going strong but due to finding 2 tuners often caused clashes and the inability to play videos easily elsewhere on other TVs or out of the home (cord cutting) , and the fact it may not last for ever, I thought I'd try a HDHomeRun Quatro along side Plex's DVR software.

There are any number of hardware boxes and software packages out there that will allow you to record programmes based on timed recordings like an old VCR.
What AFAIK is unique about @lc200's DvrOnTime is that it is using the broadcast EPG and AR signals to correctly handle series recordings and Accurate Recording in the same way that we are used to with the Humax

Agreed and its been on my radar to standardise naming conventions across all the recordings I have accumulated over the years from a variety of sources.

I have already done some initial coding for a script to find all the non series recordings and flatten them into a single folder (or possibly two, movies separately) with a new file naming convention. After a bit of deliberation I decided it was probably easiest to go back to the synopsis (plot element of the .nfo files) and use some regular expressions to extract series/episode numbers, full programme titles (where they have been truncated, ending in ...) and a year if one is present. This has turned out to be worthwhile as it has identified some cases where DVROnTime misses episode numbers, i.e. (Ep2) @lc200 On the subject of file-naming I think it would be better if by default DVROnTime put the created date in the filename in YYYYMMDDHHSS format as this would then make files unique (no need for -1 suffixes etc for split movies) and would also still show the recordings in order if sorted by name, which they don't currently due to the dd-mm-yyyyy date format.

Touch wood, I have not had any recording errors. @MymsMan, how are your recording PC and the HD Homerun networked together? Mine are both directly connected to a switch and the recording PC (Intel NUC in a fanless case) is a clean Windows 10 build and currently dedicated for recording purposes. My HDHomeRun Quatro firmware date is 20210624.

The PC is wirelessly connected to the router and the Homerun & NAS have wired connections. It is my normal laptop - I want to see how it all works before setting up a dedicated machine.

I a hoping that the majority of my problems were due to my previously unknown Sleep settings - I had thought it only slept with lid closed.
So far all this evenings recording seem to have been successful (touch wood) but I will check closer in the morning.

I am still seeing a large number of warnings in the DvrOnTime log - do other users see similar?

Nothing like that in mine I'm afraid. It might be worth trying the laptop wired for a bit to see what effect if any that has...

Agreed and its been on my radar to standardise naming conventions across all the recordings I have accumulated over the years from a variety of sources.

I have already done some initial coding for a script to find all the non series recordings and flatten them into a single folder (or possibly two, movies separately) with a new file naming convention. After a bit of deliberation I decided it was probably easiest to go back to the synopsis (plot element of the .nfo files) and use some regular expressions to extract series/episode numbers, full programme titles (where they have been truncated, ending in ...) and a year if one is present.

Sure no problem. I'll post it once its complete. It does not actually do anything currently apart from display some values from the episode .nfo files. Its written in vbscript BTW, my lets just throw something together scripting language of choice, LOL

Yes I can sympathise, this was one of the issues that held me up from evaluating DVROnTime earlier.

I think my recording problems are now solved

There were some minor video breakups when recording four programmes simultaneously but I am still using a wireless connection for my PC. I will try again when I can used a wired LAN connection.


I did try accessing the web page from my phone an while most of the pages worked well it was very awkward trying to use the Guide page.
