How to read video files from HDD

Hi all, sadly my HDR Fox T2 has finally reached the end of its life. I have tried various troubleshooting steps, but I suspect it is a failed power supply as I only briefly get any power from the USB socket when I switch it on (tested with a USB LED light). Checked the obvious things like fuse, etc and read around on this forum for various trouble shooting steps - e.g. re-seat cables, etc. No joy.

So... I have moved on and purchased an Aura which I am very pleased with, but it would be nice to get the old recordings back as there were quite a few I would like to watch. I can see and copy the files with a PC on the HDD with a USB caddy using the DiskInternals Linux disk reader, but obviously they are encrypted, so nothing, including the Aura, will read them. Has anyone had any success in finding a way to view recordings directly from the HDD? They are almost all SD, but most of the workarounds for accessing them require a working Fox T2, which I no longer have.

Any advice, including 'it isn't going to happen' would be appreciated. At least if I know it isn't possible, I won't waste any more time on it. I'm not sure I want to go the expense of getting a new power supply just to watch some old TV.

Awesome. Thanks for that. I did look quite a bit, but didn’t find that particular nugget. Might be a good idea to make it a bit easier to find on the wiki as no doubt others will increasingly be in the same boat as me. Will give it a go next time I have a free evening.

The right search would have found at least a link. I don't like wiki formatting, and don't like that just any illiterate could modify my carefully crafted text.

Ok, but perhaps put a bit of your prose on the pinned section so others can easily find it. The information, very useful by the way, was buried in what looked like an unrelated subject about hanging on startup.

The same information, and also hints on how to search, are all over this forum. Fortunately just because one example is "buried" doesn't mean that all posts that have equivalent information are also "buried".
E.g. A google site search for "decrypt pc wiki" and comes up with https://hummy.tv/forum/threads/windows-version-of-offline-decryption-hfodu.8770/page-6 as its top result.
E.g. A google site search for "decrypt pc" comes up with a different top result which would also help.
