Live TV/ext is very useful as is F and Apps Prime, Kids and top picks - waste of space
Can't tell whether Freely button would be useful. If it does something similar to Live TV and F on the Aura it might be.

Not useful to me, I never use them. I have got in to the habit of using the house button to get to apps which also provides its own return to live TV option or just pressing guide twice to get back to live TV from watching something on catch up without having to return to a previous menu. Both buttons are positioned perfectly where my thumb is when holding the remote and I can use without looking.
EDIT I should have added the APPS , TEXT and the magnifying glass search to that list of unused buttons

I've always ignored the house button. It grumbled about network not connected when I accidentally press it. (I only connect when I want to, not when the Aura wants.) TEXT - what text? Another waste of space. Magnifying glass - because it requires the internet, unlike previous models, I rarely use it.
The location of my buttons is different as I use a universal remote so Live TV is in easy reach and used quite a bit. I agree with Text, Prime, Kids, Top Picks and the Magnifying glass, not bothered mapping these. One of Apps, Home(House) or F is mapped just to access Setting (can’t remember which) but not the others.
If Freely prioritises streaming over terrestrial (most likely) for live content I would have limited use for the Freely button, for me not having to keep logging in and out of on demand apps is Freely’s only real use.
I’m hoping the S4-R turns out to be my Aura replacement then I can say goodbye to Humax and get that and an Aero.

S4-R ? I cannot find any news on that, could it be you meant T4-R ? I hope not as I am still hoping Manhattan will come up with a PVR that has another tuner to match the Aura which is about the only reason it gives me to stick with it this long.
The S4-R is a box that will be announced properly next month. It was mentioned on their website but you needed to look hard and I can’t seem to find it now.
It will only be of any use to you if you have a dish, the S is for satellite, I’m lucky I can use either.
Will it have more tuners than the T4-R? I hope so, so it can replace my Aura, but having asked them the question I was told “wait till March”.
Sadly my dish ran away with the spoon so not good news for me then but thanks anyway. Lets hope T5 will appear and the 5 refers to how many channels can be recorded + watched at the same time like the Aura.

Umm, are you saying it is a Freely recorder then ...Perhaps you can't record it but can play it back.

Indeed. I've ordered one to go with a new CF install replacing my Virgin that weekendI will wait for the early adopters to try it, and give their opinions before I even think about it.

Any views why this might be better than Humax ez? Are Manhatten any good?
Not too big of a deal, but I know Android 12 hd handling is poo, and so a little concerned about the humax. But while not too big of a deal as I have Nvidia shield for that, if Manhattan did create TiVo box Freeview with recording capability that would be great.
One of the reasons for me stop watching Virgin media so much and then leaving is because they got rid of TiVo... When TiVo scrobbling up everything ready to watch when you need it, and the suggestions were generally on the money

If you read past that post your question was answered, it is a satellite PVR where as the t4-r needs an aerial. I hope you are not expecting the Aura EZ to actually record Freely, everything now suggests it will be just a Aura like Freeview recorder with Freely streaming capability and the existing Humax Aura has been riddled with flaws and faults since its launch years ago with many never addressed so hopes for this new Aura EZ are not too high which may make buying a t4-r and then adding an Aero a better option, you get 1 less tuner but more channels and Netflix with what may be a less glitchy product from a company that is better at updating and fixing problems than Humax are.
2TB T4R £229 + £69.99 for an aero Freely box or £249 for a Aura EZ. I think the extra £50 is worth considering for the extra benefits of Tivo and even more so if the EZ is anything like the existing Aura and I look forward to hear how you get on with your purchase in a couple of days, good luck.

As trog has said it’s going to be Freesat not Freeview/Freely.
To me satellite has always looked better than Freeview (more HD channels and better bit rates), but I have only recently had the option to go Freesat and no way I’m getting an Arris.
Had the T4-R had more tuners my Aura would have gone long ago so with any luck the S4-R will be able to replace it and the Aero I’ll get either way.
If the S4-R turns out not to have enough tuners I’ll see how the Aura EZ compares to the updated current Aura (assuming that actually happens) and maybe only get 2 Aeros instead of 3 for the TVs I have with no aerial access.

I'm not expecting to record any digital channels.
I was hoping the aura-like EZ would be good. Some people seemed to rave about it. But then maybe they are just happy with the Android TV functionality that my Shield brings anyway?
My LMB on the satellite are long gone
so to use a s4r I'd need to budget for a satellite fitter willing to scramble across slate roof to the return at back of the house to fit new ones.

In that case then did you consider the Manhattan Aero, or perhaps a Rico or, if you have an Amazon subscription, an Amazon fire.
As you are not expecting to record any digital channels then why did you buy the new Humax recorder, even if its recording is limited to just the digital channels via an aerial, which is more than you are now saying that you need?

How are you going to record anything then? All TV channels, whether over the internet or broadcast on Freeview, are digital.

The same thought crossed my pedantic mind, but it has to be acknowledged that "digital channels" is the phrase in common use meaning Internet delivered services rather than broadcast/narrowcast.
