Humax FHR-6000T Will this need its own listing in the forum? ( Now named the Aura EZ 4K Freely Recorder)

Updated review document in light of recent software update. I was aware of losing any recordings but applying the update caused a Factory Reset, another level of pain.
Very user hostile indeed.
I have found mine in a bag for life in my garden shed where I must have put it after seeing the results (or lack of results) of a previous update. It’s staying there until I hear good news from the guinea pigs on this site about a comprehensive update that turns it into a user friendly PVR. Sadly I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon.
Humax owe it to their customers to make this work, but that’s only if they have a shred of integrity left.

Fortunately I decided to wait and see what others thought...so I've just invested £75 in a used Ee Pro box for use as a back up, in case my 5000t finally gives up on me...the two of them will probably last until free tv via aerial is no more.

Yes they do owe it to their customers but there are those who own an Aura who have not had a major update to the Aura since August 2021 that would address its ongoing issues.
Then there is the rumoured update that was first recorded as being in the offing towards the end of 2024 which would resolve some issues and upgrade the Android operating system
and almost 18 months later Humax are saying it is again delayed by unexpected problems.
Therefore you may wonder how long Humax will take to sort out the Aura EZ unless of course they are prioritising it over the Aura.

Very wise I would think!

Let's face it, from where I stand it would seem that both versions of Aura were rushed to market with poor OS and firmware just to be the first in that particular market segment. I think they thought that all the bugs and problems could be sorted later especially when they had loads of feedback from consumers beta testing.

The fact that the original Aura, some 5 years later, has still not had a proper update to make it work properly I assume is maybe because they don't know how to do so or the hardware is deficient and just cannot achieve the required results?

In view of totally ill conceived OS reported by reviewers of the new Aura EZ box, seemingly even worse than the original, I would not be holding my breathe for useful updates anytime soon, or ever?

I hope I may be forced to "eat my words" but somehow I doubt that!

I'm guessing there's been no update that's made this product more reliable... I've ditched my EE Pro as every week my recording disappeared and the lack of padding, so wanted to ditch YouView as its feeling dated.

I ideally need to have the ability to record 3-4 programmes, and don't have a dish available.

This box SOUNDS perfect on paper but only seen one positive review, even has 1½ star overall rating on Argos

Thanks

You can do that using two of any number of Freeview PVRs, including a pair of HDR Fox T2. Plenty available used on ebay.

From what I've read here a 1.5 star rating is more than it deserves.

This has gone quiet? Is nobody buying the new Aura-EZ I wonder?
We can probably say that noone on this forum is currently considering buying one. Whether people who have not done any research into the EZ are buying one - who knows? They might turn up here or on other forums. Given the poor rating maybe sales are in the 🚽. (toilet)

One thing that puzzles me is why did they repurpose the FVP-5000 case, albeit with a slight cosmetic change? I would have thought if they are going to repurpose a case it would be the Aura one.

That alone would put me off as it looks like an old machine, not that I have any intention of buying one

Both tatty plastic. At least the change to the case puts the LED in a position where it can be seen, rather than underneath the 5000T.
