Hummy Arms Word Game v4.0

Challenge overruled. Many words in the English dictionary are French in origin.
Quite so.
I wonder if Trev would allow "garage", even though most people in this country seem to pronounce it (wrongly) as "garridge".

Cruellest
834+6 = 840

Challenge scoring. Should be 846. Rule of challenge gives double points for incorrectly challenged word.
-10 +10=505

Sustained! But that also means I should get another 10 for challenging the challenge - however, as the adjudicator in these matters, I think I should forego that.

Current word "cruellest", prpr on 834.

I was challenging prpr. You should have been on 846 because you get double points score for an incorrectly challenged word. IE you should have got +12 for my French challenge.

It seems odd that I should be penalised for your mistake, when you have already been penalised and BH has benefited from it.
I just played from the previous valid word "bestseller" which should rule everything prior valid.
If my play was invalid (and I don't necessarily agree that it was), then presumably I should have been deducted the 10 points you claimed in #1008 and my score should have been 824 and then I would challenge BH's adjudication on scoring in #1009, making the score... er? This is how lawyers get rich.

Odd indeed, I had to scrutinise the rules quite deeply before I realised I could get my 10 points back by your scoring mistake. Blame the person who wrote the rules. He He. And he gets something out of it as well :). Serves you right for challenging my 'French' challenge.:roflmao:
Also, I feel that the adjudicator should not benefit from his judgement.:duel: But let's not imply that his judgement could be swayed by the gain of 10 points.:dunno:
EDIT: But I now note that BH has got a guilt complex and foregone the points:)

Who/what are you challenging? It gets very confusing. Who should be 846?

Eh? I'm on 840 as per #1007.
Your score at 1007 should have been on 846 due to the double points (6 extra) for my previous wrongly challenged 'Aquarelles' and the 6 for 'Cruellest' =846. I challenged because you made your score 840.
But then -10 for not scoring correctly, so my calculation, you are now on 840-10=830.
My score remains the same as -10 for my wrong challenge on Aquarelles and +10 for challenging your scoring.

So there.:frantic:

Ah. Didn't notice that. I can now understand why you are so upset at the whole thing. And quite rightly so. There must be something wrong with the rules that allow this sort of heinous anomaly to take place.
We could always take BH out and shoot him.
If we changed the rules to only allow the challenged person to challenge the challenge, that would work, but possibly allow a lot of unspotted errors which should have been challenged to go unchallenged.

The debate all hinges on whether my overrule of the challenge (post 1005) constitutes a challenge itself. Presuming it does, prpr then should have accounted +6 in his next scoring but didn't, so Trev's challenge (since he wasn't sporting enough to let it pass) had to be upheld as being within the rules - and I got my maths wrong so it's:

828
+6 (aquarelles)
+6 (false challenge by Trev)
+6 (cruellest)
-10 (scoring error, challenged by Trev)
=836

I don't see that I've done anything to get narked about - Trev chose to challenge the score instead of a gentlemanly pointing out of the error (and win 10 points)!
