Installing custom firmware

Hi all

I have just received my new HDR-Fox-T2 1TB from Humax Direct. It arrived with firmware version 1.02.29.

I am trying to install 1.02.32 with 2.18 CFW and all appeared to go OK untill I logged onto the box from my PC. I got the following screen and clicked on the yellow bar

500px-Installation_Interface.png

Nothing appeared to happen. The hummy is on the internet and can access the Portal OK. I re-booted and now I get the following screen:

Index of /

NameModifiedSize
Parent directory - -
charts/ 07-Sep-2013 11:31 [DIRECTORY]
img/ 07-Sep-2013 11:31 [DIRECTORY]

Anyone any ideas? This is my second T2 and the other one installed great and has been running for the past yaer.

Thanks

Mike

Thanks BH. Do I re-install the official 1.02.32 then the CFW or can I just re-install the CFW?

Yes, I did say (and mean) 1.02.32 (ie the standard firmware) - which will over-write the custom firmware, but you may find that traces left behind prevent the custom firmware installing properly again. Give it a try and if/when it gets stuck we can advise further.

I think it would be better to telnet into the box and try to establish what the problem is, rather than re-install that which is already there.
Some things to try:
Code:
diag general
cat /tmp/modinit.log
opkg info webif

Hi

I reloaded the standard firmware 1.02.32 the 2.18 custom firmware but it made no difference. I ran the diags as xyz321 suggested and got the following:

humax# diag general
Running: general

If you set RMA mode (either from the Telnet startup menu or from "tmenu" if you have a command prompt), then re-flash standard firmware, you should be completely back at the beginning.

Hi BH, sorry did you mean "Restart in Maintenance mode" on the Telnet menu?

Menu version 1.06
Enter system PIN: ****

1 - Restart into maintenance mode.
2 - Remove web interface password.
stat - Show what the box is currently doing.
x - Exit and close connection.
diag - Run a diagnostic.
cli - System command line (advanced users).

Thanks

Mike

Hi all

That worked!!!

I think that when I did the first installation I didn't wait long enough after clicking the yellow button.

Many thanks for all your help with this and for the excellent work in producing the CFW.

Mike

The Time / Date on your Humax was not correct, that may have been the problem, here is a bit of your log from #7
Code:
Checking /mod/boot/2 links correctly : Pass
humax# cat /tmp/modinit.log

Hi Ezra

So it might not have been me!

Thanks again for taking the time to help.

Sorry, been busy with other things. The last line is the clue. The following should have fixed it (or at least provided an error indication).
Code:
opkg install webif

Hi xyz123

Hey there is no need to apologize! I'm very grateful for all the work you guys do.

I had seen that and I found the section on Manually installing packages. I installed the web-if and could then access the hummy. However, there were bits that didn't work mainly the EPG complained about a file missing (epg.epg I think).

I thought a re-install was probably best and followed Black Hole's advice.

All working fine now.

Thanks again for your input.

Mike
