What annoys me about iOS updates is there is no way back if you don't like it. Updating my iTouch I lost a WiFi finder app that Apple had disapproved, and got none of the benefits because my old iTouch didn't support them. "Have our shiny new UI" - maybe I'm happy with the current UI?

The 7.0 offer hit my iPad this morning, and I ignored it the same as I did 6.0. Fortunately I still have only one pending notification and not two. Unfortunately more and more apps then expect 6 or 7 minimum.

Breaking news: the iphone 5c is officially a flop.

You could buy a Nexus 4 for far less and get a better phone, surely?

Heard on a radio programme about Internet blogging and the like:

"What do you call a five foot psychic who's just escaped from jail? A small medium at large!"

Hahaha :)

Everyday Practical Electronics March 2014 issue:

The editorial reports an ATM attack where a hole is drilled through the casing to access the system interface and install a patch which provides full control over the machine (I guess via the normal keyboard and screen). Really? Urban myth?

Full report on the Go Digital conference before Christmas, where the FM switch-off was postponed indefinitely. The problem of replacing the FM broadcast network at end of service life is hardly mentioned.

Amazing adhesive tape from 3M (who else?) which conducts through the tape not along or across it. There has been gasket material like that for some time, used in LCD assemblies, but this stuff would appear to make wave or IR reflow soldering unnecessary for home-brewers to build surface mount PCBs - all you need is a piece of this tape over the PCB component footprint, and then stick the component onto it to make the connections. www.sparkfun.com/products/12042

3D printer kit (capable of objects 8" in each dimension) now only £700. I am getting tempted.

Not full control, just a 12 digit code.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25550512

The BBC article even features a picture of a USB stick just in case you don't know what one looks like, and also a picture of an ATM just in case you thought they were called cashpoints.

According to that article, the 12-digit code brings up a custom interface.

So some idiot left the auto-run option turned on for the USB ports, or maybe thought that was a handy way to circulate firmware updates? And using DOS??

I can't work out how the tricksters managed to patch up the hole again.

Interesting discussion on climate change this morning on the Today program. As an expert on climate change, they had an expert. As an expert on denial they had, err, Nigel Lawson? Duh!

Does that mean all the real experts agree?
