Manhattan T4-R

Just need to get my package settings back to what they used to be, especially Tunefix. Wish I had a photo of what I did with those!
They're all mostly* sitting on the HDD from the original HDR. Swapping the old HDD into the new HDR (as per post 16) would just reinstate them (or you can copy the /mod folder across, but you must use Linux to do that)!

* see below.

I bought a T2 soon after they came out and it was only ever powered off for a few minutes rarely and viewed and recording daily for many years, it still has the original HDD and works still as well as the day I bought it without ever having any hardware issues. The box is pristine.
Same here.

I was certainly hoping it would be. And if you're looking at what is out there right now it may still be. But if you've had a T2 you're not going to feel that way. It has loads of potential to get there though.

My used replacement T2 is such a better option once I had the confidence to buy one.

I’m in a similar position here. Our hdr-foxt2 had been randomly locking-up more frequently and missed all the programmed recordings while we were away over Christmas. I had seen good reports of the Manhattan and not-so-good reports of current Humax so took the plunge. So far so good. Latest firmware sounds like a significant improvement over the original. One or two features not great but several worthwhile improvements (for us) over the Humax.
However… (there’s always a however) came home tonight to find it locked up requiring a power cycle. Just hoping it’s a one-off….

Wow! Registered in 2013 and this is your first post? Some kind of record...

Defence against lock-ups is to use a timer to give it a nightly power cycle.
