Many recordings have wrong synopsis

There is something wrong with your box. It should correct the time near instantly when you boot it. Try a reset to factory defaults.

I would lose all scheduled recordings after a factory default reset, correct? What about the CF and all installed packages and their configuration?

You can backup the schedule from the web interface and restore it after the factory reset. CF and all installed packages/configurations will not be affected by the reset.

Of course it is, all you need to do is turn on auto padding and go on holiday for two weeks. If you have no other boot ups programmed like a watch reservation or power on/off timer, when you return the clock will be way out and will have stopped recording after 7 days. Not everyone has the CF installed.
Humax fixed that in 1.03 though - providing you leave the daily software update wake-up period in place (which you would have to without CFW)

I tried AR on the Foxsat-HDR with a few recordings and they all started late (some 5-10s, others a lot more) so that's not an option for me. It seems that AR works a lot better on the HDR-FOX T2, which has also become a better at keeping the system clock after a factory default - not perfect (can still be over 30s fast), but a lot better.

This one has the synopsis of the previous program on this channel and only one - it's a series recording:

I think you have just proven that the "bug" is with the Humax Settop application and not the Web Interface or the HMT file parser which the Web Interface uses. If there is only one synopsis in the HMT file then this is all the Web Interface/HMT parser can pick out. Basically if the Humax application isn't putting the correct information in the HMT file then there's not really any way to get it back afterwards.

Somehow I doubt that Humax will be fixing their application any time soon ;)

Thanks, not great news. I guess I have to develop a tool that backs up the synopsis from the scheduled recordings and patches that into the .hmt file when it's incorrect there.

Seen that the FOXSAT-HDR's hmt command doesn't support changing the synopsis (the HDR-FOX T2's version does) which tool would you recommend for binary patching the synopsis in the .hmt file? The FOXSAT-HDR doesn't have bspatch for instance. I wouldn't like to go down the route of writing a C program since it would take a lot of effort getting a compilation environment up and running. Currently, I'm only using shell scripts and SQLite.

I need to know what I've recorded. Doesn't work for me if title and synopsis don't reflect what I've recorded. Doesn't this annoy other users?

AV2HDR can edit synopsis and guidance text in hmt files. Open your hmt via its 'Edit HMT' menu option, or just drag the hmt into AV2HDR's window. If there is more than one synopsis entry, you can edit them all, or cut and paste between them if you wish, so that they all read the same.

Thanks, but I need a program that runs without manual intervention on the box itself, this would be scripted to run upon startup like convertfiles, Newk etc.

Perhaps I should try to convince adrianf36 to extend hmt with a "+setsynopsis" command line parameter :).

If the information required isn't created by the Humax built in software (The settop app), it's not there to be recovered as already posted.

Work in progress but this is what I'm trying to develop: My script makes a "join" between scheduled events and the EPG database and keeps title+synopsis plus various keys in a backup (either one/more file(s) or a database). Then another script checks all .hmt files and for those with only one EPG block it checks whether the title and synopsis verify against the EPG backup. If they don't, the script patches the .hmt file using hmt +settitle= for the title and hexpatch for the synopsis.

Good luck with that, seems to be a good idea. If you wan't to do AR test post a few recording reservations, I have a HDR FOX T2 that doesn't have much of a recording schedule. Interesting to swap results (I am on Lark Stoke incidentally). Most of my recordings are using a freesat HDR1000S.

Thanks, it's only on my FOXSAT-HDR AR doesn't work (and that's where I'm developing the solution), seems to work fine on my HDR-FOX T2.
