.Why are you people not composting your garden waste? Instead of throwing money away you could be making free black gold.
Because my garden is too small for a compost bin, it would take about 10% of the planting area.

Also my parents have a huge garden and multiple compost bins. But when they pollard the trees the wood from that won't compost, and they have so much grass cuttings that the compost bins go all slimey if they put it in. So I pay for garden waste collection for them (dad's too tight to pay for it and the work falls on mum if I don't pay).

Agreed, we were avid composters at all previous plots, but as with Owen, our gardens now are too small and designed in such a way that leaves no room for a bin. We have no grass as we grow only insect attracting flowers and shrubs.

The green waste bin is collected for only 9 months of the year and we only put it out for collection six times last year. Therefore cost to us is £10 a pop.
There is an excellent recycling centre around five miles away, so we bought 3 recycling bags from Lidl for a fiver. Two hold up to 30kg and one, 50kg, I can empty them as and when on our way around the North Lakes area.
