MHEG info disappears from radio stations

O.K. in the Hard Disk (Check) good signs are :-
SMART Status = passed
Attributes ID 5 raw =0
Attributes ID 197 raw =0
Attributes ID 198 raw =0
Self test logs #1 to #4 status = Completed without error
Ah, all the relevant raws were 0, but...
Self test log # 4 = Aborted by host 90%

Am now running fix-disk via telnet and will leave that alone for the rest of the night.

Thank you guys for the help so far.

Thanks, BH, I knew that really. ;)

Mind you, the point is moot at the moment as my fix-disk scan has been stuck on 37.8% since before 5.00pm. :(

I know the Wiki says " the process can take hours" but I'm losing hope.

If it's still not progressed by tomorrow morning, I guess I'll reboot the T2 and try again.

OK. fix-disk test 1 remained stuck at 37.8%.

I rebooted the T2 several times before it fully booted.

I ran fix-disk test 2 and it finished in about an hour.

I re-ran the WebIF Hard Disk test and had the same
Self test log # 4 = Aborted by host 90%

I'm slowly reconciling myself to RMAing it.

That isn't anything to worry about in itself. It just means that a self test was in progress but was aborted before it completed.
If fix-disk has completed successfully now, the next step is to run a long selftest on the disk itself.

From maintenance mode, get to the CLI and:

Code:
humax# smartctl --test=long /dev/sda

To monitor progress, use:

Code:
smartctl -l selftest /dev/sda

or the webif disk diagnostics page.

Thanks af123.

I ran the long selftest and I suspect the T2 rebooted before it completed.

Here is a grab of the command window.

Code:
humax# smartctl --test=long /dev/sda
smartctl 5.41 2011-06-09 r3365 [7405b0-smp-linux-2.6.18-7.1] (local build)

Connection to host lost.

I tried to do another
smartctl -l selftest /dev/sda
which is when the connection to host lost message appeared.

I've initiated another long selftest which I shall leave well alone.

I now realise I chose CLI from the initial telnet menu:
i.e. I didn't reboot into maintenance mode.

Hopefully, this will make no difference.

Well, there was nothing in the Telnet window to indicate the process had finished.

I've just done a Web-If >> Diagnostics >> Hard Disk which gives the following Self-test logs:-

# 1 Extended offline Completed without error 00% 1927 -
# 2 Extended offline Interrupted (host reset) 00% 1925 -
# 3 Short offline Completed without error 00% 1915 -
# 4 Short offline Completed without error 00% 500 -
# 5 Short offline Completed without error 00% 500 -
# 6 Short offline Aborted by host 90% 500 -
# 7 Short offline Completed without error 00% 434 -

I shall watch a couple of recordings and see if any problems occur.

Hello everyone.

My T2 is failing to even power up at most attempts.

At the moment it's stuck with the blue light on but no functionality.

Assuming it does fully boot, is there anything else I can try.

Also, if I replaced the disk, could I just boot with the CFW USB in place and install the CFW and be on my merry way?

(If I did go the replacement HDD route, I'd start a new thread in order to help other do the same - but mainly to seek advice for myself!)

I think there is more to this than just a dodgy disk. Time to throw in the towel.

The Humax control software is held in semiconductor memory, not on the disk. The disk is only used for recordings and other data like that (remember that the HD-FOX has most of the same functionality but no disk to store it on).

I'm not sure what you expect of the custom firmware. It doesn't cure faults in the standard firmware or replace it in any way, it adds additional facilities mainly from the aspect of remote operation via a web browser. Do read the Quick Start Guide and/or the Wiki intro.

Thanks, you make some good points.

My only hope with the custom firmware was that possibly it might have been possible to load some repair modules, but as you say, this T2 is beyond help.

I shall attempt to achieve a successful boot in order to RMA it, and then contact HumaxDirect.

Thank you everyone for your help.
