News about myhumax.org forum

Most people still using an HDR Fox T2 or any other Humax model will just use it until it breaks. Few are looking for custom firmware. The question is whether they try to repair it or just bin it.
With the never ending list of flaws, faults and weirdness that has plagued the Aura since its launch and the ongoing expectations of an update that may as claimed cure some of them I would have thought the new members would more likely be Aura owners seeking a source of news and advice these days rather than owners of previous models as they would already be aware of this site and many likely already members for quite a while.

I am still running my old Digitalstream PVR after sixteen years. Needs the occasional power-cycle when the front panel firmware locks up stopping it responding to commands. TBH if and when it dies I think I can survive with using just my Humax Youview box for recording commercial channel programmes while using iPlayer for most BBC programmes.

A big change from ten years ago when I was also running a Foxsat HDR as well giving me the ability to record six contemporaneous programmes across the three PVRs. Streaming has certainly become a major player (sic) for me.

BBC iPlayer and C4 streaming only have stereo sound. Whereas on Freeview HD BBC and C4 channels have films, imported content and occasional home produced stuff in 5.1 sound and I have a surround sound system. And for commercial channels I want to skip adverts. So for me streaming of UK broadcast channels is limited to things I missed or the recording went wrong eg the tennis over-ran and AR failed.

Given the age, anyone still using an HDR Fox T2 is probably happy with it. If they weren't they would have swapped it for something else years ago.
I'm not saying you are definitely wrong, but you have no evidence to support the claim. My point is you don't know what other people might do or not do (no matter how sensible it might appear), you only know what you would do under those circumstances. It is a fallacy to believe you speak for "most" people based on a sample of 1. I'm sure there must be a name for this particular psychological bias...

I think looking under a persons post and seeing how many people list having a T2 plus one or more later models gives a clearer picture of what is happening.

Except for people like me and you that don't list our gear. I can't be bothered, why should I tell people that? What purpose does it serve? It just feels to me like boasting about how much gear you have.

My excuse is I cannot be arsed :). I do have a further reason to add to the mix, I do not have a T2 intending to use it till it goes bust, I have it for the chance that my Aura goes bust. It never gets used but its worth as a safety net outweighs its resale value for me. This is also the reason why I kept my 9200T until it became virtually worthless and now lives in the loft.

No, it gives everyone a list of what equipment we have experience with. It gives you the chance to rate, in your own mind not publicly - preferably, the quality of information given. ie. I've never owned any Fox models, but others have. You should take comments I make about the Fox models with a large pinch of salt.
