k64 : signal is good, even when the DVD is unplugged
You are obviously not getting any signal gain via the DVD when it is unplugged so it is hard to say what is happening. I suppose the DVD could be passively filtering out some unwanted interferance or maybe you have a suspect co-ax lead, If they have metal plugs (rather than molded ones) you could try re-terminating them

I thought the results in #8 showed that, It looks like the signal is too low if the HDR is at the start of the chain and the signal is being boosted when the HDR is at the end of the chain

No it doesn't. The results in post #8 are only for the DVB-T2 mux, and the results in post #14 are only for the DVB-T muxes. We are still trying to work out why the DVB-T2 mux shows no signal in post #14, you are making the presumption that it is because it is weak - it might be overloading.

If we saw the signal strength figures for the DVB-T muxes in the post #8 configuration, we would see whether they were up or down. Sending the signal through multiple devices might be boosting the strength, but it is very unlikely to maintain the quality. If the signal was being attenuated, it could reduce the overloading (if there is any).

Both DVB-T and DVB-T2 muxes from a single transmitter will be at the same power level, O.K they are at different frequencies but they are usually grouped close together, here is an example, the Hi-Def here is on Ch40, Note that they are all of a similar level
