Problem installing the customised firmware

I am trying to install the customised firmware and I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on what my problem might be.

Here is a subset of my details:-

Humax HDR-FOX T2
Software Version FHTCP 1.02.28
Loader Version a7.30
System ID 80BC.7E00
Update date 26 may 2012
MICOM version 9.3

I have downloaded the Firmware file and the associated text file says:-
Application version: FHTCP1.02.28
Loader version: a7.31 / a7.32
Micom version: 9.3
System id: 80BC.7E00
Update Date: 25 May 2012

I have loaded the firmware file onto a usb pen, formatted as FAT32.
The pen is labeled 'Cruzer Blade 4GB - Scandisk'

I have followed the instructions for installation, and all seems to go well.
No errors. The only thing I noticed is that at the last step, I don't seem to
be able to use the remote control to put the Humax into standby mode
and I have to use the large round button at the front of the Humax itself.

I power the Humax back up, and all seems ok. What I can do at this stage
is the same as before the firmware installation, namely:-
(a) Use the TV Portal to access the internet
(b) On my PC, use FTP to see the files on my Humax. I just see the same
top level folders as before. 'My Photo', 'My Music' and 'MyVideo' and
any files held in those folders.

From MY PC, I am unable to Telnet to the Humax, either by the built in
telnet program ( Windows 7 ), or by the PUTTY program. Also, I cannot
access the Humax from my browser using my Humax's IP address as
instructed in the documentation. I can of course ping from my PC to
the Humax.

At first I thought the problem might be to be with my router's configuration.
I have a Cisco Linksys E1200 and before this exercise, had my two PCs connected
and communicating with each other. For this exercise, I disconnected one of the
PCs and replaced it by the Humax.

I am not convinced that the firmware has actually installed, but how can I tell for
sure ? Is there anyway I can tell by just using my Humax/TV ? The only thing I
have noticed in the the various threads is a different page shown when you enter
the Humax TV Portal, but I just see the same page as before.

I would be grateful if anyone can help.

So far as I can see you have only updated the Humax with the same firmware it already had. There will be nothing to see on the TV screen, not even the TV Portal, but when the custom firmware is installed it will announce on the Humax front panel display during boot.

You need to follow the instructions on the Wiki HERE (click) or as described on the forum HERE (click - see Stage 3). There is also a video guide HERE (click). For further background see the links below.

Gulp, how stupid of me. I went to the page and did not carefully read the headings. I just looked for some text that indicated
1.02.28 on the assumption that the whole page was customised firmware only. Anyway, many thanks, and I will give it another go.

I suggest you update to 1.02.29 first, it makes Internet Radio work (and as far as we know has no downsides compared with 1.02.28). Check out "Things Every...", link below.
