problem using rs - no channels show in search

I've had to reinstall the f/w on my box as I've had problems deleting files, and my ext hdd was showing as 1tb when it was only 500gb. So new install and everything looks ok. I've not used the remote scheduling before so thought I'd give it a go now. I've got it so when I log in I can see what programs are currently in my schedule. But when I do search I get no results for anything. I've included a screen shot showing you what I see, or don't!

I've tried searching for names of programs but I always get no results. If someone could help me figure out what's wrong it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Your EPG >> Guide screen is not populating, so there is no database to search in. What is displayed in Settings >> Devices >> EPG region?. It should be showing you local TV area, e.g. "West Midlands (12325)" in the link HERE. Try Web-If >> Diagnostics >> rs/muxdump >> Run Diagnostics to see if you can force the EPG to be populated

I've checked the settings and you were right, my epg region was showing as unkown. ive run your command and got the following output

not sure why the disk size is iB either?

I did the push which showed ok but I got errors from chanpush as below

ps I've stared out all mac addresses

There are a few other RS diagnostics tools you could try, but if you get no change after sending them and re-booting, I think you may need af123 to have a look at your account on the RS server, he would need your Settings >> Devices >> Unique Identifier if it isn't already displayed above :-

  • rs/chanpush = Initiates an instant send of channel information to Remote Scheduling server
  • rs/checkin = force a Remote Scedule update with :- /mod/sbin/rs_process now
  • rs/muxdump = runs /mod/bin/rs epg
  • rs/push = sends TBL_RESERVATION schedule and pending schedule data to RS Server
  • rs/sync = clear the local state cache and synchronise everything

actually that last chanpush has now set my epg region. and I an now see the channels. You guys are the best!!!!!

I have run all the diagnostic rs commands but I am still missing the following channels from the RS web portal

BBC1 South
ITV1 HD

I have attempted to uninstall the rs sync and reinstall (after a reboot) but still the same issue exists.

ah well the initial problem is the exact one that I just posted up on the HD thread. Off not seeing region. The solution was to uninstall RS and reinstall, volla. The error message of making sure you were using the most up to date RS was throwing one given it has the most up-to-date.

Can you post the output from the rs/muxdump diagnostic on your box? That might provide a clue.

Your box is tuned into multiple transmitters - I wonder if that's factor.

Network ID 12339 (London)
Network ID 12336 (Berks & North Hant)

If you post the unique ID that RS has given to your box (found on the RS settings page) I'll have a look from the server end and work out what to try next.

Ah - what's the 'region' showing up as on the RS portal settings page? Is it London by any chance?

My ID is set to London London (12339)

However the issue may be related to the fact I live in Slough and should pick up London transmissions from Crystal Palace, however as I am in a flat, the aerial is pointed towards Hannington, so my regional news is South and Meridian.

It seems to me on that basis you have manual tuned in the local news not from London or auto tune has given your mash up. My HDR in London only tunes London in living at the opposite end of the basin just down a bit it only sees Crystal Palace from across the Thames no problems with auto tune for me. I recommend a manual tune of just the London ones getting rid of the rest informed by the channel numbers for Crystal Palace. Then I'm sure you need to then do other techie things for RS to refresh or just wait over night.

I usually auto tune but select Berkshire/Hamsphire as my regional option when the selection box appears at the end of the process. I then delete any of the channels linked to the London region, as they are mostly poor quality anyway and stored in the 800+ LCN.

Thanks, will try manual tune to Hannington.

Manual tuning should sort it. Although you've deleted all of the duplicate channels your box still knows about three London MUXs and RS has picked that as your region. Apparently there's no BBC 1 South in the London region, hence your problem.
I will look at making RS slightly more intelligent when dealing with this type of configuration too.
