twice in wo weeks on new machine. random failure makes machine unacceptably unreliable - any views?

Mine seems to have settled down now, after a system reset. It has twice frozen on/after a system update, though. When it was new it froze regularly doing just about anything: looking at the guide, playback, catch-up TV, internet channels, anything.

Maybe it's better behaved because I don't use it as much?

Insufficient information. Which channels? Which programmes?

From what I've observed since the last update (March), the failed recordings have stopped. If you've not had the update, just force it via the update menu.
