"Do you have any plans to include existing disk contents in the RS site"

I too have concerns re: above I will be away from home for long periods and can see my Humax's hard drive filling up, and with no way of deleting possible recording errors some form of file editing of hard drive content would be very useful.

Can I (re) add my vote for duration as well - I'd want kids films but not the episodes so anything with the right title but longer than x minutes... thanks

The exclusion parameter would meet most of my needs, and being able to specify a day of the week rather than an actual date would be the icing on the cake.

I agree, a day-of-week select would be much more useful than a specific date for most circumstances I think.

Cheers

Running the latest RS software and I must say I'm really impressed !

I tried the 'schedule auto' option to look for a future timing event ('The Food Hospital' on CH4 1st Nov), that was over 8 days away, and the next day it found the programme in the 7 day EPG and the server e-mailed me and the next time the Hummy booted it added the EPG event in the box.

I think I may have made a small user mistake when adding the new automatic entry, I didn't set the channel to "Any" but to Channel 4, so it correctly scheduled the event to 'Channel 4', where I should have picked the 'Channel 4 HD' channel instead for better quality.

What is the best way to switch between the SD and HD channels for the automatic entry, would selecting "Any" channel picked 'Channel 4 HD' over 'Channel 4', or would there be a conflict because the program was found on two channels ?

Regards,
Chris.

HD channels are always preferred over SD (assuming they're present on your box), so yes, leave the channel set to Any most of the time. No conflict should be detected as long as the broadcaster has done his job and the EPG data is correct - the system will recognise the C4 event as a duplicate of the C4HD one.

... I'm looking for a global way of eliminating Saturday's qualifying sessions without resorting to setting a specific date as a parameter, which would need changing before every new race.

This should do what you need now..

I need to do some updates to the documentation on the Wiki on the +/- search syntax in particular but in summary if no +/- is found then it drops back to doing a substring (wildcard if * or ? is present) search and you can't just specify a - string because it won't match any results.

Do you have any plans to include existing disk contents in the RS site, or will that remain strictly something for the webif? I realise that this would be of minority interest as after all, why would you want to delete files you haven't gone home to watch yet!?

I don't currently have any plans for this but am willing to reconsider if there's enough demand. The Humax does have an auto-delete facility but that's quite dangerous as, as far as I know, it just deletes the oldest unlocked viewed recording if it runs out of space.

Many thanks - that works a treat - just the main live recording listed now.

I guess the other argmuent in favour of including disc content editting in the RS package is that it becomes more of a one-stop shop for everything except software upgrades, without leaving us at the mercy of port-forwarding and having to cross fingers that your ISP doesn't change your IP address whilst away.

Ok, I'll add something...

I'm away from home for a few days, critically over the period when the weekend newspaper TV guides come out. I didn't have any spare time to go fiddling with the RS portal before I left so had to make do with a quick skim of the EPG, but as I'm going to be doing the same in a couple of weeks time I know something that will be on my "to do" list when I get home!

Why don't you just buy a copy of "Radio Times"* when it comes out on Monday or Tuesday of the previous week, then you don't need to wait for the inferior weekend newspaper TV guides to come out.

* Other weekly TV listings magazines are also available.;)

Would it be possible to have additional navigation control buttons on the top of RS EPG page :
1) "Now" to reset the EPG timeline to the current time.
2) "Next Day" which moves you to the current viewing period but on the next day.
3) "Previous Day" current viewing period on previous day.
4) "Next Week" current viewing period 7 days later.

Currently I use the HDR EPG on the box, by moving to the time period I'm interested in e.g. 7-9pm, then use the -->| button on the remote to move to the next day at the same time.
If I have just seen the last live program in a series or even missed the 1st program in the series, then I want to see whats on this time next week, sadly the HDR doesn't have a "Next Week" hotkey, so I have to press the -->| button on the remote 7 times.
Be cool to have better navigation controls than the HDR?

Ironically, having agonised at some length to get my recordings of the F1 Grand Prix season honed down to the actual live recordings, it seems that the Auto facility can't help me this week.

Whilst it found the qualifying sessions and set timers for them, (prior to the added bells and whistles added by af123 to filter the Auto parameters), it is refusing to set timers for the main events, despite being able to list them. Other programmes have had no such problem. It would seem that the difference between successfully-set remote timers and failures is the lack of CRID being put out by the BBC. Neither have CRID and only the full length live recording (at 8.30 am) has serial CRID.

I have today registered on the RS website and have been having a play. :)
Most things I have tried so far work as described in the Wiki for my HDFOX-T2. Great stuff!

Next day and next week buttons are at the top of the xepg, but when using my iPad/Safari browser they are not coloured in and do nothing when selected. Are they supposed to function yet or work in progress?

The New buttons don't work for me yet either, I suspect that they are a W.i.P., and that af123 will inform us when they are working.

Thanks.
Some things do not work as expected with the iPad/Safari combination, and as I suspect most people are using PCs and laptops to access the portal, I report my experience with that platform. I hope this feedback is of some use.

Once the auto scheduler has processed an event, it won't see it again. Is it possible that in the playing to get it working properly the events got flagged as processed? - if they're showing up in the matched events list but not being automatically scheduled then this is the most likely reason. You can reset that by right clicking on the rule and choosing Reset matched events.

Should be working now. I started it earlier but got distracted!
