Sysmon "loading" forever

On my parents HDR Fox T2 I can't get Symon to work. I've removed it, rebooted the box and re-installed the package to no avail. It just says "Loading... Please wait..." forever.

Sysmon works fine on my two HDR Fox T2s. I have no idea what might be different at my parents, it used to work on their box six months ago.

Note it didn't work on CFW 2.23, then I upgraded to 3.00 which made no difference to Sysmon.

Do you have the webif-channelicons package installed / up to date?

Caught me out once. I think it is needed to produce the graphs.

You probably mean the webif-charts package.;)

This all sounds rather familiar given the Javascript problems some people have had this week.
Can you post the output of "View Source" from your browser?

That's the same as mine. With telnet, you could try going to /mod/webif/plugin/sysmon/data and executing e.g. "./temp.jim" and see if it produces raw data values.
BTW, use [ code ][ /code ] tags.

Code tags added, thanks. The trouble is, every set of forum software handles that sort of thing differently. If only they could agree on one standard way of doing it.

So when you say "that't the same as mine" do you mean Sysmon is broken for you too?

Running temp.jim shows the source of the problem, now I need to know how to fix it:

Code:
parentshdrfoxt2# ./temp.jim
Runtime Error: ./temp.jim:12: database disk image is malformed
at file "./temp.jim", line 12

"That's the trouble with standards, there are so many to choose from".

The HTML is the same as mine and mine is working.

Remove the /mod/monitor/monitor.db file. It might be worth renaming it, just in case anyone wants to analyse exactly how it's got corrupted. This is not the first time this has been reported.

OK it's now working, thanks. Obviously there isn't much stored data yet.

I moved the old monitor.db file into My Video to ftp it off the box. But the file simply wouldn't show in the directory listing in FileZilla, what's that all about? I even renamed it to monitor.ts in case the ftp server on the Humax only serves file extensions it knows about, but still no joy.

There's a tool for marking a code section on the editor toolbar (between the movies icon and the floppy disk icon) - although why the heck that set includes strike-through instead of putting it with bold, italics, and underline is beyond me. It is also not exhaustive (what about the plain section marker?).

One standard way of doing it? That way lies stagnation and the evolutionary dead end. At the moment the Xenforo forum software seems to be the best on the market, but who knows when something better might come along. The actual BB markup codes themselves are pretty much standard, but different forums have developed different conventions for their use.

If you want to see what a crap forum looks like, try AVSForums - they seem to have rolled out their own brew (or at least heavily modified an existing engine), and upgraded it maybe a year ago (presumably to push more adverts at us). It is so broken the icon to skip into a topic's first unread post is minute, and when you do manage to click on it rarely takes you to the right place. Go try that, then marvel at the sleekness of Hummy.tv.

Disable the Humax FTP server and install the betaftpd package.

It's beyond me too. You may remember I complained about it being missing from the obvious location after an 'upgrade' but nobody seemed that interested in doing anything about it. It IS inconsistent. I don't care what anyone else says.

How do you write a literal square bracket anyway, without it being interpreted? I struggled with [ code ] above.

Quite. I hate web forums normally, but this one is quite usable, unlike almost everything else. It does have its annoyances though.

If you've got SSH access, just install and use Rsync - it's so much easier than mucking with FTP (once over the initial setup hoop jumping - but that's all part of the fun isn't it?).

Does the custom firmware support SSH into the box? I've always used telnet protocol. I have Putty installed on my laptop which I use for telnetting anyway, so I have the tools at the PC end.

Actually, I know the custom firmware doesn't support SSH (with my current settings), because Putty wouldn't connect until I switched it from SSH to Telnet protocol. I use SSH to log in to my Raspberry Pi.

Wouldn't have said it otherwise. Look for the Dropbear-SSH package.

No, it really does work, so you must have a setup problem of some description somewhere. You can obviously test the basic connection by telnetting to port 22 from your PC once you've installed the server on the Humax. After that it's a matter or logins/passwords/keys etc. When you've sorted that then Rsync should "just work"!
