One possible explanation is that they may repeat the FVP4000T/FVP5000T scenario where they fixed a significant number of bugs in the FVP4000T and relaunched it as the FVP5000T with no significant hardware changes, just new software.

I think you are clutching at straws there, more likely the effort was intended for the EZ and they hoped it would be backward compatible and could also be used on the Aura but for whatever reason it could not and rather than admit defeat they have just left us all hanging.

Can't be true. Aura is Android based and Freeview. EZ, if I understand correctly, isn't Android and isn't Freeview. Totally different.
