Three mobile network appears to be blocking hummy.tv

I tried registering for a Three account again. Registering email address works fine, then Three ask for the mobile number(s) to associate with the account. Give that, and then they try to send a text so you can confirm the number is correct and link it to the account. This is an iPad, they don't receive texts because Apple don't allow it. This makes it impossible to register this Three SIM for an account unless I happen to have another device I can put the SIM in (which I don't, it's a data SIM).

A data SIM is just a normal SIM. capable of sending/receiving texts and phone calls just like any other SIM, its just the associated plan doesn't include any free allowance for texts and phone calls,

You should be able to put the SIM into a phone to receive the text message, just don't send messages or make phone calls,

I needed to log on my Three broadband hub device to receive the text messages sent by Three and as an experiment sent a text, which worked, but was charged 10p on my next bill, There is no charge for receiving text messages.

It turns out Three now do data SIMs with included roaming again, they started about a year ago. But they're nearly twice the monthly cost of my existing SIM so I won't be changing to a new contract.

Data SIM.
But, as a test, it also works on an old mobile using APN three.co.uk.
Thanks. Clearly there's something specific to my SIM, but without an account login I have no way to change anything. And Three won't help me get an account login unless I take a new contract and lose my included EU roaming at not much more than half the price of their new contracts providing that.

Oddly I have no trouble browsing various really quite NSFW sites with the Three SIM.

I think three itself is unwell. Apart from not being able to load hummy i cannot download files from swisstransfer - as soon as it completes it fails and starts again. And again.

Seriously think about installing the CloudFlare 1.1.1.1 Faster Internet App - just to see if it works any magic. Unlike Google's DNS, CloudFlare don't sell data on your browsing.

The connection to this site on my phone is secure according to the browser (Vivaldi). When I look at the certificates, hummy.tv expired 29 May 2026 but E7 expires 12 Mar 2027. No idea what this means and whether it is relevant to the problems described above.

However you may get unexpected results using an out of date one.
That might explain this:
Chrome on my old phone is telling me hummy is unsafe & the security certificate is not trusted. But my pc says the opposite.
... Well it might if the Chrome is out of date on the old phone - old being the operative word. Not all software updates properly, if at all, on old devices.
