U&W not decoding

Looks like Dave and Yesterday have changed too.

What else is in the UKTV stable?
Just had a look on UKTV website - nothing else that's on Freesat.

I have just completed the delete U&W and Freesat tune procedure on my Foxsat-HDR and it worked, U&W is back.
I then discovered that all the other U&.... channels had the same issue so had to repeat it (deleting them all before doing the Freesat tune).
All now looks OK.

I had this trouble last week with my Foxsat HDR boxes and solved it by first changing my postcode to 'J' (nothing else), Then do a rescan and the U&channels all came back.

Seems an odd problem this but, if anyone is interested I too had this exact problem with my original Humax Freesat box i.e. no U& Freesat channels but Sky arts working OK. Delete and re-tuning had no effect on the problem.

I resolved the problem by doing a factory re-set. Of course normally you would lose all recordings, timed recording settings and any other personal settings.

I was fortunate in that I have two original Humax machines, one of which is really a spare and has nothing of merit saved on it so, I put the spare hard drive into my main machine and did a factory re-set. Once complete I put it’s original hard drive back in and all the recordings, timer settings etc were unharmed. Of course personal settings, volume, OSD transparency etc needed re-setting.

The point is that a factory re-set will cure the problem but maybe at the expense of recordings etc.

Are you sure that a factory reset reformats the HDD? Are you talking about the FOXSAT-HDR or something else?

Even if it does, you could (possibly) have performed a reset without any HDD connected.

Yes, it is a Foxsat -HDR. I’m not sure if a factory reset would work without the hard drive but, if it’s present warning messages appear warning that all recordings will be lost so…………..

Factory reset does not format disk (HDD) on a Humax Foxsat-HDR (see manual Section 9.4, but not stated in that bit) .
HDD Control and Format is a separate menu item. (Manual section 10.3 )

Custom Firmware allows scheduled reservations to be restored (provided a backup is made before the reset/first time install).

U&Wxxxx missing channels can be restored for most via the procedure give above thread on DigitalSpy.
Certainly worked on mine.

I didn't think so. I assume the FOXSAT also works without a HDD.
Foxsat-HD doesn't have one. The Foxsat-HDR will boot as a tuner-only device without the disk in/connected I believe. Never done it myself. Never had the need (and it would be a pita to get the box out of the cabinet disconnect the interconnects and open it up to do so).

The HDR-FOX certainly does. If so, that implies a factory reset operation could be initiated without a HDD connected and therefore protecting recordings, even if the factory reset were to try to enforce a reformat. On HDR-FOX, the reformat is an option.

So, basically, the only thing Petecal contributed to this thread is misinformation.
